Jellyfish Restaurant

Recommended Posts

Hi Ladies! I Just confirmed my date for the Jellyfish on July 3, 2013! Like you all I am super excited but I have so many questions! I was going to have my ceremony at the hotel... but the only time for the ceremony is 1pm.... which is way too early so I have switched everything over to the Jellyfish! Is anyone getting married at city hall before you go down? My travel agent says its too much paperwork and trouble to do the legal thing down there... any opinions on this? Thanks! Kristine
We had wanted to do the legal ceremony in the DR and not have to worry about having 2 ceremonies until we looked into the process. We decided for us it wasn't worth the hassle. So, one of our best friends got ordained online and he officiated for us and we signed all the documents when we got back. We just told them we were doing the "official ceremony" at home and our NJ lisence is dated for the day we got back. It was way easier, almost free (as opposed to all the fees for translation and the judge) and we were able to do it all how we wanted.

We got married at city hall in chicago before going to DR to have our symbolic ceremony.  After looking into the cost, paperwork involved, and the amount of time it took to get your certificate back from DR we decided it was the best way to go.  And I still feel we made the right decision.  sooo much easier and stress free.

Thanks!!

We were able to take our bracelets off and get new ones the day after the wedding.  Some of the groomsman forgot to take theirs off (My husband included...grrr) and they show in the pics..I definitely recommend reminding everyone to take them off :)

I would double check with the resort though since they all have different rules, but I honestly don't think any of them would have a problem.

Does anyone know the size of the lobster tail?? Thanks!
Lala32 - yes, you can take off your wristband, or I have seen people with it on their ankle... Smithk79 - its about 1.5-2lbs...

Awesome, thanks!  I'm sure the front desk will know who I am then after I take it off for the wedding AND for the TTD the next day!  cheesy.gif  I'll double check with the majestic board too - maybe they can confirm.

Zogalak, I'm getting married before hand also... we ultimately felt it was not worth the hassle to get everything translated into spanish and back and you are also at the mercy of the schedule of the judge (i think there is only like 1 in the area?).   I struggled with 2 weddings for a but but I'm perfectly ok with it now.  In fact, I have to go to Vegas for work in a week and a half and altho it's a little early, I'm honestly contemplating just making it "legal" there - it would be much more fun than city hall!  Dec will be our recognized wedding date but we would consider this just a formality/legality, whichever way you look at it.

Ladies I know I asked before about round vs square tables and we established that you can either...I'm probably going to go with round tables so does anyone know if they seat more then 8? I'm working out a seating plan and it would be sooo good if I could squeeze in 9 at a couple tables..thanks!

Mayte said the rounds could fit 8-10 but 8 is ideal...so yes it should work! :-)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
