How many meals a day is good to stay healthy and fit

Recommended Posts

Well, I've heard that you should eat something every four hours or so. That will prevent you from starving at any point during the day and pigging out.

As for what you should eat, make sure you're eating plenty of fruits and veggies so you get the nutrients your body needs.

It depends a lot on what your needs are - as the other ladies have said several meals that are smaller is most often ideal. If you're exercising lots you may want to increase your protein intake, if you want to burn some fat quickly then higher protein + veggie (and lower levels of carbs - not NO carbs) is usually a good plan. But you need to make sure you eat enough, if you try to starve yourself then you may end up pigging out without meaning to. I typically have 3 larger meals and 2-3 snacks a day. But, if I'm not hungry - I might skip a snack, if you're working out in the am you might want to have a bigger breakfast.

I think you just need to figure out your goals (ie weight loss, or maintenance) - that will also help guide you. Good luck :)

Amygirl....me too! I've lost 30 pounds eating clean! I usually have breakfast, snack, lunch, snack, pre-workout snack and dinner! I guess that's 6 meals a day for me...it's really important to eat regularly to keep your blood sugar levels stable throughout the day. I eat lots of fruits and veggies, lots of lean protein, and lots of water.

i have to agree.
eating every 3-5 meals a day works. trust me. it sounds like alot, but that's the only way you'll shed the pounds.
Drinking lots of water.
Fruits and veggies for a snack.... cutting back on carbs...
USE ALL YOUR COLOURS!!
RED: apples, ORANGE: oranges, YELLOW: Bananas, GREEN: pears, BLUE: Blueberries, PURPLE:plums, BROWN: also pears......
and you can do the same for veggies.

*don't eat past 8 pm

RICE: JUST SAY NO.... try 100% wild rice... it looks like bird food, but tastes reallllll good.

DRESSINGS: cut back on dressings as much as you can. if you can't resist, try a low fat vinegarette.

hope that helps a bit.

    • The cooking method can double the calorie content of a meal, so learn about healthy cooking without having to add extra fats, like using a steamer,  a rotisserie , a slow cooker , a pressure cooker, a grill. Once you cook your own meals, you can control the calorie content because your control the cooking method and all the ingredients. A lot of people are overweight because they keep eating food that they did not cook.
    • I have stayed at Dreams La Romana and Dreams Dominicus.  The two resorts are very different in style and decor. A few comparison points are below and fact sheets are attached for both.   Both resorts are approx 45 minutes from Punta Cana airport, close proximity to Saona Island, Catalina Island and Altos de Chavon. Top championship golf courses in the Caribbean are just minutes away including Teeth of the Dog, Dye Fore, The Links and La Estancia – all designed by world-famous Pete Dye. Restaurants are similar at both resorts.  Both offer the Explorers Club for Kids.  Dreams Dominicus  Brand new resort and in 2016 488 rooms (however additional construction was underway) More contemporary style & decor Good beach area Rooms were very nice Preferred Club located in main lobby and adjacent to main pool & beach front Food was good Center plaza area with nighttime entertainment Main lobby is small, but outdoor bar off lobby is nice Dreams La Romana Originally built in 2003 & opened as Dreams La Romana in 2008 756 rooms Recently renovated and new preferred club adults only lounge & pool added  Rooms are more traditional Caribbean decor Grounds are very lush and tropical Good beach area food was good    Dreams Dominicus fact sheet.pdf Dreams La Romana fact sheet.pdf
    • My sister has done it but with the destination wedding, only super close family members and friends came since it was expensive and farther. It was great though.
