My party is going to be less the 35 people so we were planning on just using the dinner reservation that is available with the complimentary package.  Haven't decided yet about the cocktail hour -- I was debating b/c technically since MP is all inclusive everyone in the party should be able to drink for "free" anyways at any MP bar....what are your opinions on just heading to one of the bars at the resort after the ceremony instead of paying for a cocktail hour?

We are planning a full reception when we get back home (for about 150-175 family/friends) so we're trying to cut our costs at MP since most people won't be there.

    Any help would be great!

    Thanks!

We are probably only having about 35 guests as well. But you only need to have 15 room nights booked through a group/wedding contract to qualify for a free private cocktail hour so just with our room and my parents room we already qualify. I don't think it would be any problem and might actually be fun for your whole group to just take over one of the many bar areas.

So you didn't have to put down extra deposits?  MY TA told me I needed to wait.  Maybe I need to ask her again.  My date is 4/16/11

I think it depends on who you are working with and how persistent you are in getting what you want.  I asked my WC in MI so many questions that she eventually just gave up and gave me the contact info for my onsite WC.  You definitely can and without putting down a deposit.

The two things that I refuse to compromise on are photography and food - especially the cake. I am definitely a cake snob. For me, an outside videographer will depend on whether I have extra funds after I pay for the must-haves.

I'm not very picky but am nervous due to what I've read. That's why I'm going with an outside photographer. Photos are very important to me and will not take chances with that. I've booked with Moments that matter photography and their work is amazing. I've read great reviews about them. food is important as well and from what I've read, i have no worries. Video really isn't a huge deal for me, however, it's something that I will have forever as memories. Therefore, I think I will look into an outside videographer because I don't want to have regrets due to not wanting to spend the extra money.

Kyndall - they never asked for additional deposits. Are you using an independant TA? Maybe if you contact Palace resorts directly they will allow you to book.

Jenn - it takes a little time. It's not instantaneous. Soon enough you'll be able to open attachments.
