    So far I've:
Booked 10 day stay at resort
Sent out the STD's in Feb
Purchased and received my dress (lost lots of weight since ordering it so it still needs lots of alterations)
Purchased paper for DIY passport inviations
Picked out bridesmaids dresses (waiting for girls to get finances together to order them)
    Hired photographer

    Still need to:

Obtain original copy of birth certificate
Have coworker make inviations to have them in the mail by the end of this month
    Finalize DJ/music
    Purchase flights
    Make OOT bags
    Make program fans
    Purchase chair and table linens
    Purchase centerpiece decorations

and the list goes on...I need to get on my to do list!

The only issue with changing the time is that it can only be changed to 10am. Our reception isn't until 6pm. I asked the wcoordinator if there was something they could do with timing but the bride getting married there that day is having hers at 5:30pm but her decorator will need 6 hours to prepare. Wish this was an easier one since we love the chapel so much.
I feel like you've already made the date final since you sent out the STD's. But, you know your guests more than we do. If you dont plan on having a lot of people come and you feel like your guests will be cool with the date change, then change the date. If youre unsure, you may just have to give up the chapel or have an early ceremony and a late reception.

Yikes 6 hours to prepare??...geesh! Maybe u can figure out something to do during the break between the ceremony and the reception? I dunno.. Maybe you can talk to some of your guests and see if it will be a super inconvenience to change the wedding date? and see what others think?

        Good Luck!

Thanks for putting it into perspective. We do have a lot of guests and only a few of them have booked travel. I actually need to remind them to book flights asap before fares go up. But we announced the date last November at our engagement party so everybody's been working with that. We will have to find a way to make it work or go with the other chapel.

          Thanks everyone!

Happy Planning and hope everything is going flawlessly!

I say change the date..if you change it for the day before it shoudnt really mess up anyones travel plans...most of my people are coming down 2-3 days before my wedding, so they wouldnt care if it was a different day...only if the chapel is that important to you, if the date is more important i would say choose a different chapel...thats going to be a loooooong day if you get married at 10am and the reception isnt until 6...just my thoughts....good luck :)

I just got back from the Riviera Maya - we had issues with our resort's chapel opening. We went down and found two good ones while we were down there.
Our save the dates were sent and we've been set with 11/13th this whole time...the problem is that the chapel we really fell in love with, Xcaret Assisi chapel, is booked and they don't have any time openings other than 10am....

We have two options if we really love the church: Doing a ceremony at 10am or switching our date to 11/12th.

What are your thoughts...? We are so confused!!
So far the few people that have booked their travel are arriving on the 10th....

If we change the date it's better for us to do it now than wait for more people to book.
This sounds similar to my friends wedding back in February. She had to have it at a particular historic mansion so the wedding started at 10am and the reception was at 6pm. How did she pull it off. Well I have to say her wedding coordinator was creative in that after the wedding (it was an orthrodox jewish ceremony which lasted 2 hours) everyone had brunch/lunch. By 2pm the bridal party went off to take pictures and the guests were invited to head to their rooms and change to return for a fun reception in the evening. Some mingled for a while. I stuck around the entire day since I was her maid of honor. But most people left at about 2pm and returned around 6pm ready to party...and party we did until 2am! I would say to avoid the confusion try not to change the date and perhaps think of something creative guests can do in between (2 hour cocktail cruise). Not sure how long your ceremony was going to last. Its just a thought.

PS I should probably add that in terms of food it worked out cheaper cause her guests ate lunch instead of dinner and in the evening she had open bar and just hors d'ouevres served (I know i spelled that wrong...sorry).

Just curious, is anyone planning on getting legally married before heading out to Mexico?

We weren't going to but after hearing all you needed to do to make it legal in Mex we decided to do it here before we go and just not tell anyone. We'll probably just go with both sets of parents.

We didn't want to deal with translating papers and the blood tests so we are doing the legal part here. In fact I just booked our marriage commissioner for exactly 1 week before our wedding date. We aren't telling anyone that we are doing this though cuz I know our families and I know they would see it as a waste of their money to come to Mexico if we are already married. But to us our real wedding is the wedding in Mexico. My bosses are a married couple and I'm close to them so they will be our witnesses since they know all the secrets about our wedding already and I know they won't tell :)

Where abouts in BC are you punkie? I'm on vancouver island and have actually been wondering what we even have to do to have a legal marriage here. Do you just book a commissioner and that's it?
