Anyone else having this problem?

I actually have over 50 people booked and my wedding is July 31st BUT I did not have the money to make the deposit and I told all my guests that in order to get the price that was listed they had to book by November 1st. I sent out STDs in September and I had 53 booked by November 1st. I still haven't sent out formal invitations yet. With that being said, the majority of the people who booked waited until the very last day to pay their deposits so in your situation I think people probably plan to attend, you're just going to come to realize that the majority of people are serious procrastinators!!!

I think it's human nature (for most of us anyway) to procrastinate and wait until the last minute. We haven't started booking our guests but I'm trying to prepare myself for this stress-to-come. Maybe you could send out a reminder postcard or something to put the wedding at the front of your guest's minds. People are so busy this time of year that I'm sure booking just became one of those "I really need to do that when I get around to it" things. Anyway...you have a ton of time and I def wouldn't worry.

YES Kelie and I am getting married April 28, 2010,have 22 RSVP's and only 4 actually booked, looks like I have a ton of procrastinators Very Frustrating!!!

Mine is May and only my Fi and I are booked! Maybe that will make you feel a little better I think most of our guests are planning to book post-holidays!

I feel the same way 100%. I have quite a few people that are on the fence as to whether or not they will be able to come. I have just been telling myself that as long as my immediate family, my FI and my best friend and her husband are there I will be thrilled! When I get the "decline" RSVP responses in the mail, you can't help but to hurt a little bit, but we all knew going into the destination thing that there would be plenty of people that couldn't make it--or in my case any ways!

I totally agree - people will procrastinate as long as humanly possible!

I have been able to book 28 adults and 9 kids (inaddition to myself, my FI, and our photographer) already and my my wedding is not until next December! BUT the only reason that we were able to do that is because kids are free at the resort right now but our TA promised us that this would not be the case past our quote period, which ended December 10th. So most of the people that put down deposits were our immediate families who know for sure they are coming, and those with kids. We really stressed to those bringing kids that they needed to book NOW. And even then we had to bug and remind people. Our quote period was about two weeks long and I told our TA that this was not long enough, especially right before Christmas (and also we had JUST chosen a resort so most people didn't even know where we were going at that point!) but she told me that no matter how long the quote period was that it wouldn't matter, everyone books on the last day anyways. I scoffed at this but it was so true! Of the 28 that booked, only 2 sent in their deposits before the last day! Geesh.

So we feel like we are off to a good start, but are still expecting maybe another 20 (childless) adults to book. And I have a feeling that unless I have another "hook" to get them to put down their deposits right away by a certain date, they will take their sweet ass time to fork over their money and commit to the trip! I'm sure this will be frustrating for us, but at the same time I can't totally blame them - I mean, who wants to part with their money any sooner than they have to?

I'm getting married in April and so far I know of about 55 people who said they're definetly going but only about 12 have booked so far. That being said, I will note that FI & I have not even booked our own trip yet:) Neither have our parents who are of course going to the wedding without a doubt. We're just big procrastinators in our family so I'm not worried at all.

 

I sent the save the date out in October and I have NOT sent out the invitation yet. I think people will wait until the last minute to book. I also think that when people see the invitations it will seem more real and will definetely push them to book.

 

This is what happend to my cousin when they had a DW...everyone waited until a few weeks prior to book and they ended up having 65 people show up to the wedding. I think that's why I'm not stressing it.

We have about 40 people booked for our november wedding. We emailed the reservation forms out to everyone and also noted that their are multiple other weddings at the resort and they need to book now! It worked for most of our guests. we will probably have about 15-20 more book closer to the date.

We are getting married on June 26th next year and only me and my FI have booked. There seems to be a lot of people that want to come and said they would book after the holidays so I'm just patiently waiting....

 

I plan to send out actual invitations after the first of the year to get a better headcount. I guess as long as I have my immediate family and best friends there I will be okay!

Our groomsmen all booked a month a half before the wedding...talk about last minute. We had a lot of last minute bookings so don't panic!
