Riu Palace Tropical Bay (RPTB)- Post all info/questions here!!!

Recommended Posts

Im sure its like any other airport with transfers. I was disapointed that the one thing Riu doesnt offer is transfers to and from ...... But with 30 people or so in our party, it seems a little easier to us to go ahead with Mo bay.

we expect some bigger town atmosphere. Even plan on hearing a plane take off here and there.. that doesnt bother us though. After we studied Negril vs Mobay.. and went with Mobay. Negril is beautiful ----good thing about jamaica is.... its Jamaica! its really gorgeous everywhere.

RPTB is nice but its completely booked up for anything near a saturday anything near our date.

Just happy the hard part is over!

Thanks alot and Congrats on ur new lives

Wait, Riu doesn't include transfers to/from the airport? Weird...we were told it was included in our package. Perhaps because the RPTB is a Palace, it's included? Or maybe it's our group carrier that includes the transfers? We're travelling with Signature Vacations...

Congrats! I just came back from the riu palace this weekend and have to say how much fun I had. The resort was uncrowded due to the hurricane season which was a nice surprise. All of the hotel staff was gracious and the resort is super clean. They clean your room in the afternoon and then have turn down service. One night we stayed in and ordered room service because it was raining and the maid knocked on the door and made sure we were OK and needed anything. Hotel transfers aren't included unless you book through a travel agent. I booked mine through Clives Transportation and it was only $20.00/pp. I did see a very intimate wedding of 4 including the bride and groom and got married on the beach. I have to say the sunsets are as amazing as people describe.

Hello all,

Only 49 days to go before Alexandra and I get married and Riu Palace Troipcal bay and maybe its just us, but i can say its been like banging our heads against a brick wall for the majority of the last few months, but we are finally getting there and the jigsaw is fitting together, although we have had to use extarnals in order to get exactly what we want, offerings from the resort WC's has been limited, which is a bit of a shame and caused us massive stresses, but all we be alright on the night.

A question i had was does anyone know if there is a CASINO near by? I had an idea for favours and a little bit of light entertainment, we were going to get a number of 2.00USD chips and place them in organza bags for our guests along with a card, poker, roulette, slot machine etc etc and go to a casino for the night and see if anyone gets lucky. Does anyone know if there is anything like this nearby to RPTB.

Hope everyone elses plans are going a lot smoother than ours are.

Best Regarss

Simon and Alexandra

There's a *cough* casino *cough* at the resort, but it's a couple of machines in a small room right beside the stage. We didn't bother with it. As for casino's nearby.. none that I'm aware of. Negril's a fishing village, not exactly party central.

Sorry you're not having a smooth time planning your wedding. We didn't do anything extra, so maybe that's why our planning was smooth -- really we didn't do any planning! Try to enjoy the vacation and not stress about the wedding so much, really it goes by so fast.

Good luck!

were you able to set a meeting location between the wedding and the dinner? I have a 4pm wedding in April 2015, and I was to make an itinerary... but the 1.5hours between I want to give people the option to meet at one of the bar/lounge areas, or do whatever they want. Are there any good bar/lounges where about 30people can hang out?

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
