We scanned our passports aand birth certificates before, and sent them off. We brought them with us, and again, they didnt even ask to see them.

The gazebo rental was worth it to me, and you could have your first dance there. The only other place that is remotely nice is the Disco....which is tiny, and the music is LOUD!!!!! and very dark.

I know some people rent out the snack bar for the night, to have dinner...then dancing at the same place, not sure about cost though, and not sure if you need a DJ or you can bring your own there...

They play your CD for free during the wedding, but you should bring your own.

Yes, the aiport let me pack my sky laterns in my suitcase (checked). I ordered them from justartifacts.com  turned out great...bigger than expected. Order a few extra, some of ours didnt have the fuel light....

Renting out the snack bar (Pisces) for the reception costs 1700 + tax and includes dinner and DJ for 4 hours.

Not yet! A lot of photographers I contacted were appalled at the rate.

I was thinking of posting in here and asking brides that have used them to send me detailed reviews with their names that I can show Chandalyn when i make my case for a reduced fee.

I'm also going to contact other resorts to find out their vendors fee.

There's power in numbers right :) and my wedding is not for a year, planning is done, so i have time to fuss over annoying things like this.

So... any brides out there willing to share their not so good reviews of the resort photographer, including their name and wedding date so Chandalyn knows that we have the inside scoop :)

Your help would be awesome!

Thanks

Has anyone had success getting the vedor fee lowered or dropped by the bahia? I find 800$ really high compared to other resorts that friends have gotten married at.

Hey everyone....thanks for all the helpful advice! I joined this site two weeks ago and have been reading non stop! I'm getting married at Grand Bahia Principe January 2014 and I am super excited...even if its a year away! The only thing I have been struggling with is the ridiculous venders fee for outside photographers. I have read many replies that indicate that if a photographer is a paying guest at the resort, you do not need to pay the fee. Can anyone confirm this for me? My phtographer is a friend who lives in St. Marteen during Ontario's winter months. We will be paying to fly her to Jamaica and stay at the resort for two nights. She is technically a friend with a big camera, lol! Would the resort still make me pay the $800 vendors fee?

So just got home last night after 2 amazing weeks at the GBP. All I can say is WOW!!!  Honestly the most perfect memorable day of my life, that went without a hitch!! Seriously, I was one of those brides that had planned every last detial beofre hand, and once we got there, it all just falls into place stress free, even if it isnt exactly the way you pictured it. My husband( lol crazy!) has the day off today so we are spening the day at home in our pjs since its so cole(How I miss the beach and plus 30), So I will post pics and reviews later. All I would like to say is No worries! everything works our great and Chandlyn is fantastic, and accomodated everything we asked. And for anyone wondering about the picses, it was stunning! I coiuldnt see us doing our reception any other way.  Also, We are both very into high quality photography and had amazing photographer Genevieve Albert from Montreal, we did not want to use the resort after hearing they were not very good quality, HOWEVER, they cam and took the free pics anyways and I was extremely impressed by the quality of them, we got 5 free ones and paid for a couple more. Below are a few of the pics we have gotten back from Geneieve. And for hair and makeup, it was more expensive to get it done at the resort than to hire off of the resort, we went with Rashel Edwards and her stylist Sophia who were both phenomenal.

Well, gonna go relax with my husband!!! And I will put up a review sometime in the next week, gonna unwind and unpack! Nothing to worry about ladies!!!! Oh, and I have tons of advice on some amazing local excursions and a great company with great prices!

Beautiful pics! Thanks for sharing! I'm really interested to hear everything you have to say about the picses. I'm getting married the same time next year and the only thing i'm worried about is the bugs... which change seasonally.

Any vendor fees for outside hair stylist?

Enjoy your day with your hubby!! Congrats!

Congratulations!! Your pictures are stunning!!! Can't wait to read your review. Please post a pic or two the Resort's photographer took; it's good to hear that they improved. Also, is love to see a picture of Pisces for the reception and dinner. I'm contemplating if its worth the money opposed to doing the Gazebo rental and semi private.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
