Hello ladies :)  So glad i found this thread!!

We are getting married at GBP on 22nd April 2013 - looks like theres a lot of us that week!!!  We are having a 12pm ceremony & have decided not to spend any extra on a private reception etc as we have our party to look forward to when we get back home - i assume we will get a meal in one of the restaurants for our group, im happy with that.

As for the photos, we are going with the hotel photographers, ive looked at thier stuff on thier facebook page & they look ok to me, they also got back to me pretty quickly when i emailed them for details of thier different packages

Hair ive booked with the hotel salon but am unsure whether to book for make up or if i should do my own - i dont want it over-done as i dont wear a lot usually but then i want a good job so perhaps im better off letting a pro do it!  what do you think?

so excited now - jsut want to be there!! im sure it'll come around in no time!!!!

 Hi there!

I had my hair and makeup done at the spa and I was really happy with it.  I normally don't wear much makeup on a daily basis and wanted something a bit more then what I could do for my wedding.  I told the girl at the spa that I wanted a very light natural look, nothing too heavy and she did exactly that.  I swear I had about 35 layers of eye shadow that she used to build it to make the perfect color.  I was really happy with the great job they did on my makeup.  I say if you normally aren't much of a makeup person but are looking for that bit extra for your wedding book at the spa.  Just tell them right from the beginning what kind of look you are hoping to acheive.

I have booked my spa appointment for my girls and myself the morning of the wedding date.  I'm not too worried about it...just give yourself enough time to work with them for the look you want.  I was told my someone who recently got back from her destination wedding to bring a photo or magazine clip of the look you are going for.

Relax and enjoy...that's what I plan to do!!!

Hi MrsDavies2013, we'll be at the resort at the same time as you, we arrive on Saturday 20 April so i'll be sure to watch out for you on your wedding day if we are around the resort and to say hi. I hope you have a perfect day. :o) My wedding is on Friday 26 April at the gazebo.

Thanks everyone for the tips about the booking of the spa for make-up etc, I hadnt even thought of this - I just thought I would book when I get to the resort but by the sounds of it, if I wait til then I probably won't get an appointment. I'm having my friend do my hair but I might like to get my make-up done and perhaps a massage on the morning of the wedding just to help me relax because I know I am going to be so nervous! haha...

Good luck to all the upcoming GBP brides. I wish you lots of luck and happiness for your special days. cheers.gif I'm so glad I found this thread, you have all helped massively towards my wedding as I didn't know where to start when we first booked. Thanks everyone.

I would book it as soon as you can.  The dates and times fill up quick.  If there is a specific date or time you want I would recommend booking as soon as you can.

Hello! Sorry it has taken me awhile to get back to you! I ordered my dress in April and they said it takes about five to seven months for it to come it! Still waiting! I finally got my veil! It came in after almost 4 months! I would book the steel drum band ahead of time just to be sure. We already did. We just pay when we get there. I think we are doing the free wedding package, but we aren't for sure yet. Anyway, keep in touch! There is so much to think about and plan...all the small details!

Anyone know if you can bring sparklers and sky lanterns with you or do you have to have that shipped over before? I figured you could put that all in your bag that goes under the airplane?!

Hey there, we brought over sparklers and sky lanterns and just packed them in our checked luggage.  So they went on the plane no problem.  And the resort allows both so you're good to go if you decide on them.  The sky lanterns were a huge hit with our guests!  They were beautiful when we let them off.  Even the ones that crashed and burned were special!    And we had sparklers for everyone when we did our first dance.  It was awesome to look around and see everyone around us lit up!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
