Any Gran Bahia Principe Runaway Bay Brides out there?

Recommended Posts

Correction, just received the license.

I just got our marriage certificate 2 weeks ago, so yes it will take just about 2 months. Come to find out AFTER we left Jamaica, gran Bahia is supposed to give you a copy of the marriage certificate (not license) but the signed documents that is sent to the courthouse for the license. After asking chandlyn about it, they forgot to give to me and sent 1 month after wedding. I was able to be added to insurance, change name on bank acct and small stuff like that.

Thanks everybody!!!

BusyBee123 - Haha yes It's Mrs. Johnson now!  But I guess not officially yet, since I'm waiting for the marriage certificate to change my name.  Donnalee said it'd take 2 months to get my certificate!

well I guess for me it is really official now. we had our reception on saturday and it was just awesome. it didn't quite make up for not having family with us in jamaica, but we really had a blast. super food, great DJ, lots of drinks... can't ask for anything more than that. we had our photographers doing pics so now we get to be excited about a second group of pictures!!  and on top of that we have a new grandbaby on the way that was announced at our reception! we also got our photos from Merrick which I will post shortly, and our video too but I haven't figured out how to upload it due to the size. Roxroy did a great job!!  part of me is really glad it's all finally over, but another part of me is just a little bit sad. all that planning and it's over so quickly...

Wow good to know about the marriage certificates, and ACW I ams o lgad you had fun at your AHR good for you.

I have hired the bartender but I am secong guessing it due to the cost 649 for the whole group including tax. I was hoping to ask you ladies that did rent the gazebo you said you bought bottles and pop but could you buy beer? Alot of the people going are beer drinkers any help ladies thanks. I am starting to think it's a big waste of money for the bartender what do you think?

THANKS LADIES

From what I just read in someones post, you can just take the beer from all of your fridges and ask them to stock up the beer in your hotel room with JUST beer a few days prior.. that way you can stockpile beer and not pay for a bartender.

Hi FleetMac bride,

We rented out the gazebo but didn't hire the bartender....it just wasn't worth it to us to spend $1,800+tax on alcohol at an all-inclusive resort (we had 60+ people with us).

During the 3 days before the wedding, our groomsmen tipped the maid $5USD per day and wrote a note asking for their mini-fridges to be stocked with just beer (the resort provides Caribe beer in your rooms).  We ended up having around 60 cans of beer, in addition to 6 litres of rum, vodka, and whisky.

The guys just got beer from the rooms or the neighboring bars.  We paid for NO liquor while at the resort.  We brought our own Moscato for toasts and dinner.  That's about it.  We tipped one of the bartenders we made friends with to make 2 gallons of rum punch and this other vodka based drink for our reception at gazebo.

We received 2 copies our our marriage certificate from the resort but were advised that it was not the proper documentation to change my name, which I'm not doing anyway. We were more concerned with just having something to show to customs at the airport on our way home if we were questioned, which we werent.  All the world loves a wedding and newlyweds, and all we were was congratulated lol

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
