AHHH!! That makes me stressed... Damnit! I was hoping to avoid going in since their hours of operations are pretty much the same hours I work. (8-4:30 Monday to Friday) I was thinking that once we got quotes back we might go in once to hammer out all the details.

It actually makes sense though because I talked to Candace once when I called her after an email. She was going through the list of the resorts that I had asked for quotes for and she couldn't pronounce some of them. And I told her the same thing I said before, I don't really care - just find something in these parameters and I'm happy. But she wasn't able to suggest anything, nor was she able to say which hotels they worked with alot. It made me suspicious but I just dropped it because I was so happy to get a rseponse back within like 2 days unlike my previous TA.

Hmm.. should I try to get my file over to Tara? How do I do that without them knowing why? The whole purpose of a destination wedding was so I could have someone who's experienced and so I wouldn't have to deal with anything. No offense to her but I want someone who's been doing this a long time!!

Honestly, I don't know why Candace is doing quotes because all the quotes I got were from Tara directly. As far as I know, Candace just kinda does the gruntwork like a secretary and answers phones. I could be wrong though.

If you want I can give you Tara's email address and you can say that you'd really like to deal with her because she comes highly recommended. You can use my name if you want to. She knows me well because of the Candace fiasco in Jan.! Now my resort just got bought out too so she's busy dealing with that HAHA i'm such a troublemaker. I don't think that would be too bad to do it that way. Just say that your "friend" (meaning me) had nothing but good things to say about Tara and you'd really like to correspond with her :)

That would be so awesome. If you don't mind sending me a PM with her details, I would really appreciate it. Man, I'm so glad I joined this forum or I would never have known.

Haha after I email Tara and give her your name, she'll probably figure out why I've asked to deal with her over Candace! Hopefully that means you qualify for the referral bonus, however that works. =)

Thanks again!
Mary

where are my Calgary girls at? Been quiet in here for a while...

Just wanted to give you a heads about the Old Navy sale. There is alot of talk in other forums that Old Navy is having $1/flipflop sale this weekend. I was in ON at market mall this afternoon and she said that this sale is not in Canada. I guess their big flipflop sale was in Feb! Too bad. Just didn't want anyone lining up at 7am on saturday when they dont have to.

Have a great LOOOOOONG weekend! elefant.gif

Hey guys,

We have been quoted $1400 plus $189 for Dreams Puerto Vallarta from Calgary for May 13-20, 2011. Total is $1589. For anyone that has flown during that season from here, is that a good price.

Our guests are bitching but I cannot tell if it is because they are used to last minute deals or if that really is very high.. I had my first bridezilla moment tonight after spreading the word to people... I just dont know what to do anymore... thanks for listening guys.. and any input would be appreciated.

I went through the same thing when we got our prices. People are use to seeing the good deals and don't realize the booking as a group process. I even had one really good friend freak out at me and was totally affended because I'm suppose to know that she can't afford that and she out right refused to even try to come to our wedding. So she has been removed from my wedding plans. Anyways, I'm not sure about traveling that time of year. If you are ok with this you could mention to them that they could take the chance and book last minute. But if something happens (over booked flight or hotel), they are on their own. The bottom line is this is your wedding and it will be wonderful no matter what. Those that want to be there will be there and you have to except that some people wont come and you will here about it. It's really unfortuante but make the best of it.

Good luck and the only thing that matters is that you are getting married to your guy.

Sigh, so 12 people have already booked thru Romantic Travel, then Sunwig took over the charter flight and is refusing to add anyone to our group at the same rate. We had confirmed another 10 spots at that price - just when you think you can relax! I have 6 friends standing by to book, jeez I told people book right away dont wait, guess there is only so much you can do. Angry letter written to Sunwig first thing today. The requoted price is close to CAD 300 more per person, grrr!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
