Very confused what to do next

Recommended Posts

Well I booked my wedding as soon as the dates became available, but to secure the date and time I have to show confirmation of accomodations. I have already asked for 3 extensions because RIU did not have prices available for Dec 2010. My extension that I have now is up on Monday August 31.09. I called today to Riu reservations and the agent informed me that the prices will not be out until closer to december of this year. I do not want to go ahead and book group rates thru sunquest at this point, I have gotten a quote, but I had not planned on booking this until January 2010. I have not even sent out my STD yet and was planning on doing this around Oct or Nov 2009.

My orginal idea was to just book the room as soon as I could to confirm the date and time, then cancel, that room when the group was booked. Now I have no idea what to do.

I am going to send another email to the wedding sales department and see if they will extend my deadline for another 3 months. I don't want to lose the date, it will be out 5 year anniversary. Stress. stress and more stress!

We had the exact same problem! We booked as soon as the dates were available! I had extended twice I think? The TA we decided to go with actually didn't have prices from her wholesaler till last week for our April 2010 wedding!! I was freakin out! But she had emailed Riu on behalf of me and things worked out. We got the exact same email as Bride2be210.

So now we are booked with the wedding date and time @ the Riu and we have also put our deposit down for our wedding! Its now all feeling like reality as opposed to a 'fantasy' wedding that I was making up in my head! LOL!

sunstarmoon, I'm glad it all worked out for you! We had a similar situation, but ended up waiting until our TA was able to get rates for us. Wedding is May 2010, and he couldn't confirm rates/flight info until Aug 2009...We would have loved to give our guests more notice/time to save up but that was the best we were able to do. C'est la vie! In the end, we've gotten the date we wanted (it will also be on our anniversary!) and pretty reasonable rates so all's well that ends well! Glad that stressful part of it is over...

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
