Yes he emailed me yesterday saying that he had just done a wedding the day before at DRC, had a meeting with them and would be able to confirm my date with the 2011 rates by next week :-)

Hi all (past and future brides),

I am a December 2010 bride (21st) and our wedding date is creeping up on us slowly. I haven't tried to get in touch with the wedding coordinators in regards to the nitty details because I have heard that my best option is to bring whatever I can to Mexico, write down everything I want for my wedding day, and they will take care of it once we get there. Is this not the right approach?

In terms of my dealings with Dreams, I have only put down my $500 deposit for the Ultimate wedding package and my wedding date reservation. I am currently scheduled for a 2pm wedding but I have not talked to the coordinators about possible reception options ... should I do this before I arrive?

Is there anything else that I should be doing before I get there? I feel as though this whole process has been a little too easy for me, especially considering what I am reading about other brides. Any help or suggestions are appreciated!!

Thanks and happy planning!

Hey Lori - bummer we'll miss each other!  My colors are orange and aqua :-)

I haven't gotten to deciding about decorations yet...that is next on my list.  What are you bringing with you?

Is anyone having their rehearsal dinner in the wine cellar?  I will have between 24 and 28 people and Gabriela said that it only holds 18, but someone else on here siad they are using it for their party of 22.  Also, she said that there would be a surcharge of $600 in wime consumption.  Thats seems higher than what I remember someone mentioning on here.  Also, does anyone know if there is a dinner charge on top of the $600?  Thanks!

I have 22 people but I am not using the wine cellar - we ended up booking a restaurant in Playa Del Carmen because we couldn't squeeze everyone into the wine cellar.   Your best bet is to talk to one of the restaurant managers about sectioning off a little section for your group...some girls have done that.

There is no dinner charge for using the wine cellar - but you do have to pay for bottles of wine - and I believe the final number we heard was $60 per couple.  So if you have 24 people, that's 12 couples, $60 per couple is $720 in wine.

My TA said that Gabriela wants to have everything final 2 weeks before the wedding. She said that Ana waited till 2 days before when the couples arrived and it was too stressful. She is sending me all the options and I am picking everything out. I am taking alot of my decoratoins down with me also because I think they charge way too much! So, as your date gets closer (probably in the next 2 months) you'll want to talk with the wedding coordinator.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
