Today was our first day here.  Customs was a BREEZE!!!  We had 12 bags total, counting out clothes and wedding things, between my parents, brother, his gf, my fiance and I.  The only one who got stopped was my brother's gf.  She showed them her clothes, that's it.  She got the red light that's why.

They asked why we had so much stuff.  We told them for our wedding, offered to show invoices, they said it was okay and we were DONE!!!

Dreams has been awesome so far.  They upgraded our room from the honeymoon suite to the master suite without us even asking.  We are so close to the North Beach where we'll get married on Friday and today we watched a wedding there from our balcony.  Tomorrow morning we meet with Lorena!

It has only been 1 day and we've NEVER been happier we chose DREAMS!!!!

Hey Lindsey!!  Thats so good customs was good to you!  Im glad to hear youre having a blast already!  Hows the weather so far?  Do you feel its possible to do an outdoor wedding or is it pretty windy?  I arrive this Sunday at 3pm....hope to bump into you!  Also we have a preferred room...id love a master suite, hopefully they will upgrade!

See you around the resort this weekend hopefully!  If not enjoy yourself...we`ve been waiting forever!

I believe it is around $500 to rent the furniture ( a little ridiculous ). They set up couches on the beach... a while ago I seen a picture and it looked beautiful but will people in their bathing suits be standing right next to us ?- i cant seem to get an answer on this. The cocktail hour locations aren't really great thats the one part that has me a little bummed.... i dont like the jacuzzi either & my 3 year old son will be there and i can picture myself telling him not to put his feet in it every 5 minutes!!! ahh what to do.. what to dooo! also i wouldnt really decorate the area besides the lounge furniture because it will still be pretty light out around cocktail hour time... so I would just have a simple set up and worry about lighting for the reception instead..

i anyone has more info on this or any cocktail hour locations please share with us! i believe its rounded couches with little tables and decorative pillows  ?

I too am struggling with cocktail hour location. I originally wanted it at Desire's Terrace but Lorena told me that Desire's Terrace will no longer be an option for a cocktail hour location. I asked her what are the options but she has not responded as yet.

I really don't care for that Jacuzzi area. To me its a little awkward having a big jacuzzi in the middle of an area where our guest are supposed to mingling and DRINKING. Also, we are inviting children. It will be a nightmare if one of them fell in =/

I like the idea of lounge chairs on the beach but I am worried about privacy as well as the HEAT (my wedding will be in August).

Quick question... If I or you opted for lounge chairs on the beach, do we have to pay to rent the chairs, tables, lanterns, etc.? I really hope not.

Yamina gave us 2 indoor options:

1. Desires (she referred to it as the Sportsbar....hmmmmmm lol). She said, "The furniture that you see on the picture of the Desires is the one that we have already there."

2. The Ballroom. She said (in May) "The cocktail hour at the ballroom we only setup high tables with white linens. The brown lounge furniture has a cost of $400 usd + 11% tax."

Do you know how far away the Sports Bar is from North Beach and the Pool Deck? I don't want my guest to have to walk all over the resort for our wedding. Especially in the blazing heat.

I used the resort map on the Dreams website as a guide to judge how far it is....it's a little far and I get your concern. i guess I didn't really think about it too much, i just wanted somewhere cool. I think it will be OK though, everyone will probably go hang out at another bar or go to their room to freshen up while we have photos taken any way.

RollerBRide thank you for your help! I didnt think about using Desires but its actually not a bad idea... hmmm i have to say though when I visited dreams i dont remember it being as nice as it looks in the pics.... could be because it was at night- and i was having many drinks LOL but in the pics it looks awesome.. there is also a pool table not shown in the pics... either way- thank you !!

The Sports bar is like a 3 minute walk from the beach, essentially it is by the lobby.

I am doing the cocktail hour on the beach

chair bows: i cant really see paying $5 per bow when i looked on amazon.com and they have them for less than $1 each. Are most of you ordering your own sashes and bringing them down with you ? Is there a fee for them to put them on which basically makes it cost the same amount anyway ? please help ;)

shoes: im having my ceremony on the beach... so im assuming ill be wearing sandals ? I love heels so im getting a pair for the deck reception anyway to wear for a little and for some pics... but is the runway hard enough to wear heels on or should i find really dressy white snadals ?

flowers: how much about are you guys spending on your bridesmaids bouquets ? mine is included in the ultimate package but i dont want to spend a fortune on flowers.. i think i saw in the catalog that bouquets are at least 60$ ea ? is there any way around this ?

spa: does anyone know about how much it will cost for the bridesmaids to get their hair done at the salon ?

centerpieces : i have the pictures of the centerpieces but there aren't prices next to them so I am not sure how much any of them are... are most of you bringing your own or have any idea about how much the cost of the ones in the catalog are ? this is another thing i dont want to spend a fortune on!

I don't want to spend on my destination wedding what I would have spent at home LOL so i am trying to figure out where I don't need to go crazy.. any help with any of these questions would be very helpful!

Thank you!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Prices for the Spa:

Hair Styling = $65.00

Make-up = $54.00

I have another question ( what else is new ) - does anyone have an opinion on the lounge furniture set up on the beach for the cocktail hour ? This is what I orginally confirmed with Yamina, but when Lorena wrote back ( that one time ) she siad she had down for me the jacuzzi area.

I emailed her telling her it was a mistake but I havent really heard anyone on here talk about the lounge furniture set up. I thought it was a cool little feature sitting on the beach on a couch having cocktails but I wonder why noone else really does it.. hmm maybe I made a mistake ? Do you think its not private enough and won't have the look im really picturing ? Any opinions on this would be great, or anyone who did it maybe you have a review to steer me in the right direction ?

My fiance is not crazy about the jacuzzi idea.... so I think we are now between the lounge furniture on the beach and the desires terrace.... H E L P :)

The only reason I choose not to do the lounge furniture was because the cost was a little outrageous for 1 hour.  I think the cost quoted by Gina was an extra $1,500.

So here is a picutre of the lounge set-up that I received from Gina that I could add to my cocktail hour on the beach for a lovely price of $1,500.  I mean it looks great and all but that is a lot of money to spend for 1 hour.  And you can see that the area isn't private and you will have ppl in their bathing suits walking around, to address the previous questions.  Sorry to be the debbie downer.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
