Canadian Websites - OOT Bag Goodies, Invites and More

Recommended Posts

Hey Courtney,

Great thread to start. As I'm sure you know by all my whining I've had the exact same problem. I can find things at great prices but then that all the sudden triples (or more) when I want it shipped to Canada. So far I've found it cheapest to just buy from local stores and forking over more on the price tag but obviously no shipping. Unfortunately I'm no help here, the only Canadian site I know is Wedding Favours - Bridal Shower Favours and Party Favour Ideas but that was already posted. I'll be sure to check this threat again though in hopes that someone else has been more successful than me in their searches!

Just an update on this.

Shipping was $64, and then we got a suprise "Customs" fee, (which we thought was tacked on) of $50!!! Yes, that's right, I spent more on shipping than I did the actual sea shells. They arrived in great condition, and they replace any shells that are broken...but if you're Canadian, it's not worth it. Shipping was WAY too much! sad.gif

I have a few sites, I have not used them yet, but probably will. Also, I ordered my STD's from Magnet Street MagnetStreet magnetic calendars business card magnets custom refrigerator magnet and the shipping was cheap and fast, I think $8 or something like that.

Creative Bag

I will try to locate my other sites, can't see them right now.

I got my dress at the David's Bridal in Buffalo, so if anyone needs to know where it is or has any questions, I can help with that.

I also wanted to mention that if you have a Party Packagers anywhere near you, you should visit on a regular basis. Right now they have bamboo beach mats for $0.79 and flip flops for $1.29 and bamboo torches for $1, plus lots of OOT bag stuff.

  • 2 weeks later...

Morning Ladies..

I have been meaning to post here a few times but DIY has kept me busy...We were planning to do a "sand ceremony" and I have had lot of problems finding the sand to put in them..So after weeks of research we found out that our idea of using "shells" to fill the bottles is almost impossible..

First off, to get the shells here from any site in the States, they are not only expensive but fisheries will charge us a fee along with customs wanting to charege us waaaaaay too much that we decided against it...So ...

Then went onto bottles, this too was difficult as I wanted a certain type of bottle and attempted again to find it online but no success..I did find a few of my bottles at Michael's and settled for that..

NOW, as for the sand..We wanted a 'teal or pink' colour but had no success trying to order this from anywhere in the States, most places wanted to charge us $9.00 per bottle and then a $48 shipping charge along with a customs fee..So after lots of research I have come up with the following places in Canada to order this from:

I am in Ottawa and we have Loomis Art Store and they sell Sand...Loomis Art Store They do sell lots of colours and the sand they carry is made by Sandtastik

Now also other places you may want to look is in party stores (like party marts), I found the colours I wanted but if Loomis does not have the colour you require, try those stores..

I was getting very frustrated and wanted to share my findings with all you Canadian girls that might be going through the same thing...

Good Luck~

Next..Real Starfish...

I originally wanted to order from the States and paid the phenominal fees as other brides have to get the Starfish here..only to notice they sell starfish and sand dollars at Michal's crafts..so stock up girls...

Now I wanted to also incorporate a silver starfish on my dress, after weeks of researching where I could find such a pin, came up with nothing but ugly cheap starfishes...So what I have decided to do is order a starfish for a bouquet (as the pass the starfish is done on here) and once it arrives, I will remove the stick part and add a pin onto the back so I could wear it on my dress as planned..

As mentioned on this forum as well as other forums, you can find the starfish on these two sites which ships to Canada:

WeddingandBridalJewelry.com: Star Fish - 4 Colors!

The Dazzling Designs Company - Other Products

Hope this also helps someone that might be looking for a starfish

Veil....

For any girls from Canada not wanting to spend a fortune on a veil, I made mine and it was easy..

I bought all my shells from Walmart (who carry a great selection of shells and stuff) and bought even my Tulle there...I made my headpiece part (the comb) incorporating shells and then followed this easy pattern to make the veil part...Making a Veil

Just wanted to share, how easy this DIY was and saved me a ton..To buy the veil I wanted it was between $125-$160 (Chapel length) and I made mine for $30...

I will post pictures at a later date when I do a post showing all my completed stuff..

Good Luck

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
