Yeah, I plan to keep them pretty short, I'm not one for long nails anyway, just long enough to look pretty and feminine :) Thanks!

Alright, so on the weekend we were at the cottage and well, most of the nails stripped/ripped off, so I cut them and got rid of most of the gel. I was supposed to have an appointment this afternoon but had to cancel (had to leave a message because they were closed) because I couldn't get out of work early and honestly, what's the point now, with nothing left? I am soooo disapointed with what happened! I am definitely NOT going back there again! sad.gif

Ugh, that sucks. I'm disappointed for you!

Can you go to the store and get one of those white rectangular buffing things and very gently buff off whatever gel is left on your nails? Don't use a file - they are too rough. Then I would give them a rest for like a month so they can grow a little before you put the gel on again. The good thing is that you tried this so far in advance before the big day. Imagine if you had done this right before the wedding - you'd be in Jamaica having a nail breakdown!

OMG I didn't even think of that! lol Thank goodness I did try it now, I would have been freakin on my wedding with ugly nails! lol

Most of the gel is off. I painted the rest of my nails with a clear coat so they sorta match, it's barely noticable.

I can't believe that happened to your nails. I'll throw a new one in the mix here- fiberglass and then gel on top. Before my wedding i did the "forever french" gel and i though they were gorgeous and they held up nicely for a week but during our honeymoon they were becoming yellow a bit. I was totally being rough on them with tons of salty water and sand every day but... that was my experience.

When I got back home I went to the nail place in my neighborhood and they were like oh yeah gel is not as natural and strong as fiberglass. So I have had my fiberglass/gel nails permanent french and i really like them. I will say that my place uses a drill and after reading these threads maybe i need to find a place that doesn't but i'll ask about that. It's really bizarre I have gotten tons of compliments on my nails- they look super super natural and I keeop them pretty short.

btw- what's the going rate? I paid $75 for the nails and then $25 for a fill and this is not a fancy salon at all. (prob why they use a drill/file combo)

I too want to have nails not just for the wedding but just be a little more femine. Does anyone know anything about silkwrap nails? If so, are they better or equavilent to the gel nails? and if I am swimming 3X a week, would that "weaken" the gel or silkwrap nails?

Thanks in advance ladies

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
