Newbie planning a Negril wedding

Hi everyone! Newbie here from the suburbs of Chicago, planning a DW at Beaches Negril Resort in Jamaica for May 5th, 2010.

I did an ungodly amount of research trying to pick the "perfect" resort for our wedding, and I can't believe that I just found BDW last night - but I'm really glad I did! I just wish I would've found it sooner! This forum is amazing - I must have spent 3 hours last night reading about ideas for OOT bags, and the thread about what brides would or wouldn't do if they had to do it over again was great as well. It hasn't even been 24 hours and I think I'm addicted, lol.

Congratulations!! I'm also from the Chicago burbs, planning a July 2010 wedding! This board is great. I was just a lurker for a long time, but we're approaching the year mark...I figured we better get going. I'm not "officially" engaged yet, but we already know when we want to get married and where. Who needs the ring, right? LOL!!

Same thing here, we knew what we wanted, but kept putting it off, thinking we have plenty of time, right? But then when we hit the one year mark and I started looking at possible locations, some resorts already didn't have availability for my date!! I was really surprised. That's when I got my butt in gear and figured we better start making some decisions, lol!!

Yea, maybe you need to hint that he needs to make a move soon or you're going to be looking at 2011!! J/K - I think I've seen a few brides on here who have put their weddings together in just a few months, but I think a lot of that depends on how particular you are about your wedding "vision" and if you can be flexible on the location or not. I knew I wanted to book mine about a year in advance to give our guests plenty of time to budget and plan for this as vacation time. If I threw this together in just a few months, I know most guests wouldn't be able to make it.

You'll have to let us know when you two make it official!!! And by the way - what suburb are you in? Hoffman Estates here.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
