I can't speak about Greece, but we stayed in Bali a few months back and LOVED it! We stayed at Bali Villas – Amazing Bali Villas Accommodation for Rental – Serene Villa and the people were super nice. We were treated like royalty and everything was really affordable. We had a personal driver for the day that took us all over Bali for about 40USD per person for the whole day. Here are our pics from Bali Bali - a set on Flickr . My only regret was the trip was too short!

I really wanted to have our honeymoon here, but had trouble scheduling flights. So, I may be a little biased but my vote is for Bali for a honeymoon. Also, if you have any questions about where we stayed in Bali please ask.. I love reminiscing =)

We were only there 4 days but seriously considered moving there! I think 7-10 days would be a good visit though.

If you like monkeys at all you really want to visit the Monkey Sanctuary where you can feed the monkeys bananas. We went to the monkey sanctuary, the temple, some shopping, and drove by the volcano all in one day. You can definitely spend more than one day shopping as there is tons of items and I would have liked to hike the volcano which would have taken an entire day.

Plus, you want to have a few days to just relax by the pool/ocean. The villas are very popular in Bali so lots of options for you to have a private pool to relax by with your drinks.

Aww man, I want to go back =)

I looked at the plane tickets and there about $1200 pp so I would definitly be staying at least 7 days. I also looked around at some of the villas and they look so nice.

The only thing I'm concerned with if food. What type of food did you guys eat?

OOhhh... I LOVE food! :) There are lots of restaurants in Bali since there are so many tourists that visit so you can find any kind of food imaginable. The room service for our villa had excellent food and had a good assortment of Indonesian (its kinda Thai/Malaysian mix) and western food like burgers and fries. Our breakfast was also the usual western fare of eggs, bacon, pancakes, etc., but you could also get local cuisine, as well.

We went to Ku De Ta one night and it was by far on of the most expensive meals, but really, really good with "New York" food is what they called it. I would recommend going there for drinks at night for the atmosphere (private bed/couches overlooking the ocean) and eating there for lunch (less expensive and more options). We had their steaks, tuna, pizza, hummus, salads and all were great.

We were only there for 4 days so didn't get to try as many restaurants as I would have liked, but overall, we actually liked the food in Bali more than what we've had here in Singapore. We were staying in the Seminyak area and one of the strips we walked down had Italian, Indian, German, American, etc. so lots of options.

                Hello!

We just started talking about our honeymoon this week and Bali came up! From what we've heard it's such a beautiful place and it is so tropical. We are getting married in Mexico, having an AHR in Michigan, and then flying back to China. We were hoping to stay a few days in China and then flying to Bali for 5-7 days. It's very convienient that we live in China and I think it's only a 4 hour flight to Bali for us.

Does anyone know if a visa is required to travel into Indonesia? We have a lot of homework to do now. I'm glad to hear the good feedback on Bali.

                Good luck planning everyone! :)

It looks like everyone needs a visa for Indonesia, but many countries including the US, can get a Visa on Arrival. Here is more info from the US travel dept: Republic of Indonesia Visa Requirements. Just an FYI, you will need an entire page in your passport when you visit Indonesia, as they put a sticker on it for the visa on arrival.

I would certainly go for Bali.... But I'm biased! Check out Ubud or Seminyak (Aston Bhavana Villas in Seminyak are amazing,)
