LIVID, so upset...I don't want to be like this!

My good thoughts are with you. Keep your head up, stay strong, and be firm. You SHOULD be given something for your stress and aggrivation. Also, may this company PRICE MATCH the package you found online? $2200 is a big chunk of change...you should ask.

I have my fingers crossed for you and your Fiance. Everything will work out. In 11 days...you will be in paradise surrounded by the ones you love!

I'm so sorry you have to go through this so close to leaving for your DW. I agree with Chantelle, I would ask to be compensated for the difference in price. I unfortunately had gone through a similar situation with my own TA. I argued until they did a comp at their expense to our honeymoon booking for the monetary difference. You could have booked anywhere online and received that package pricing yourself. There's NO excuse for there to be that much of a difference.

My daughter has a different last name and our TA placed a wrong name with hers on the plane ticket! She's traveling down with our guests, so good thing i noticed that it didn't match her passport. Double check everything. I know you don't want to babysit someone that's not doing their job, but just make sure everythings correct.

I've been dealing with the WC from the actual resort by myself and it's gone so much better. Just take the TA out of the loop and go above her to her supervisor or talk to the vendor rep. that's at the resort instead.

Soon, you'll be far away from all of this and it won't matter. Once you step onto the plane your worries will be gone. Try to relax and enjoy each other.

I will knock her out for you!!!!!

I know it's hard but take a deep breath and relax. You're marrying a wonderful man and you will look beautiful and have a great time. Is there anyone else you can speak to other than this particular TA?

Good luck!!!!

I think this is great. Sometimes when you can organize yourself and write it down it's almost as good for you to do as it is for the other person to read. It's ok to stress a little but there are some things that will be out of your hands. Try to fix what you can and let go of what you can't-all that matters is you getting to marry the man of your dreams. All the rest will eventually end up being a story to tell-even though it doesn't seem like it now.

Good luck!

If I can offer some advice, I think you need to be firmer.

If the Manager is aware, but is not stepping up to the plate, you need to make her. I would refuse to have anyone deal with the TA and contact the Manager directly for everything. Tell her the situation needs to be rectified ASAP, as their reputation will continue to be tarnished by you, and your friends/family and anyone that will listen!

I would even go to the owner, our, if it is a chain, regional supervisor and go into detail regarding their inadequacies and despicable customer service. It is simply unacceptable for you or anyone else to feel that you are inconveniencing them.

Y'know..I'm having some flashbacks here. This is the same type of shiz that caused us to actually cancel our first date. Now, we were NO WHERE near as close to deadline as you are....we were still quite a ways out, but the whole issue of miscommunications and finding the trip cheaper on a public booking site--that just cinched it for me. Luckily, we could afford to be picky and say "Screw this." because we were still so far out.

Was there any discussion prior to booking about price matching? I think of all your problems with this woman this is enough to send ANYone over the edge.

Blessings to you and yours sweetie. Hang in there..believe it or not, it's all going to pass and at the end of it, you'll have had a beautiful ceremony and you'll be your man's Mrs. You've got a right to be ticked, so go with it. Just don't forget..there is light at the end of this tunnel-and it is NOT an oncoming train:)

I'm so sorry your dealing with this! But i agree with Virg, time to go above all their heads in bring in the owner, chain/regional rep whoever is at the top of the peckign order. I would personally refuse to deal with this particular TA and be very firm with the manager about this, you need someone who can take over the reins and handle the details accuracy and professionalism.. clearly something your TA is lacking!

But just think, 12 more days and you'll be able to soak in the sun with your family and new husband!

Update... I just got off the phone with customer service and the regional manager. Cust. Service said in regards to our trip, it has to be a mirror package, or else they can't do the price beat (note, the flight there is overbooked, so we would take the following flight if we have to to save $2200)... so, that probably won't be happening. I also sat with the regional manager and went through a whole list of things that went wrong and told him our frustrations. I had e-mailed him as well, and let him know that with all of these people booked, there will be a lot of bad word of mouth, and that if things were not "taken care of," that FI and I would write up a poor review. To boot, one of our best friends is high up in the Public Relations field in NYC, and she said because of all of the frustrations that if things were not "sorted out" that she would contact her friend to do a write-up of all of the poor experiences we have had. I am not trying to be pushy or mean here, I just want things done a little bit close to right! And I was also brought up with the phrase "always use honey first rather than vinegar," and I was nice all along, and nice up to this point... and look what happened!!!

PS, FI was very touched by the letter, and we talked and now anything that needs to be done will be taken care of through him (I mean talking to the TA on the phone).

Thank you all for helping me out here. I feel like I am one of those people who always says, "Hey, don't freak out, there are bigger fish to fry, not the worst thing in life." And I do know that. I am thankful for a lot, and I know that my issues are miniscule compared to real heart wrenching events people go through everyday in their lives. But I also know that because I care about people, and the bigger issues, does not mean that we have to ignore our feelings or thoughts about these frustrating issues at hand.

Thank you all for following me with this... BDW is comforting because unlike my in-person friends, you all know FIRST HAND how we are feeling, and I don't have to keep saying, "If only you were in our shoes!" Thanks ladies...

Okay, now for the big update. The regional manager refunded us $500 in hopes that it would satisfy us. Yes, this is nice. But I informed him that this money issue was only a tiny part of the many problems we dealt with. We found out that since our TA had to go through another TA due to contract reasons, it made the whole process extremely difficult for herself, and for us. Regardless, as I told him, this is not an excuse for misspelled names, wrong information, deadline switches. I let him know that we were not complaining to just get a discount but to let them know that this is not acceptable, and that we would want to warn other brides not to use this company. His response was, "Well we have plenty of brides who are very satisfied and we have written letters to show it. We learn from these experiences to try to make our business better. If you choose not to use our company again, it is a personal opinion and choice." This is going to be the choice of us, and the 50+ people attending our wedding, booked through the agency or not. (Many booked on their own after getting poor service through the agency.) I believe the TA herself got caught up in this mess and got frustrated about it...understandable... but this would SUCK if it happened to anyone else. I really feel like the manager felt if he credited us $500 that it would make everything go away. I guess this is how they run things. FI and I run on principle, not solely on the dollar bill. Great company....

BUT now we are going to be leaving in less than two weeks so I will be marrying the man of my dreams, and we can put this part behind us... thanks again ladies... I do not want to post the agencies name on here as to not violate others who are booked through them, and I will discuss this with the mods if I can say anything. Thanks again!!!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
