We are not allowed dancing or have music at the a la cart restaurant on the resort where our dinner is taking place. So what I planned was...
eat dinner then we are heading to the beach for a private reception party.. we will be introduced then and have our first dance followed by bride/father groom/mother.
          Anyone think this is crazy?

Thank goodness for this thread! I was worried that a small party wouldn't need dancing, so I wasn't sure to book a DJ for a wedding with less than 25 people... quandry...

And CaribbeanLover, no that's not crazy. It's a smooth flow to get things going in the intro.

CaribbeanLover that is exactly what we are doing as well! We will have a private cocktail party at the pool bar and we plan to have our dance after we are announced. We will then follow this with the father/daughter and mother/son dance.

So glad this question got brought up... I've been wondering the same thing. I've never been married before and haven't been to too many weddings either so I do not know what order things are supposed to happen.

I do have one question related to dancing... we are having our reception either on the beach, but most likely in a grassy area overlooking the beach.. my question is do you think it is a necessity to have a dance floor? My fiance doesn't want to pay for one and thinks we don't need it, but I think we do need one. What do you think?

We will be doing our first dance...a rock the reception medley right away as we are introduced for one main reason which is we want to get it over with early on so we can enjoy dinner without worrying about forgetting our moves. I want to be able to have some drinks! : We'll be doing the Father/Daughter and Mother/Son dance after dinner! I'd say no need for a dance floor...just kick your shoes off and enjoy the sand!
