Ya my parent are divorced so each side is having a shower....so it stops at 2....LOL! And I agree on some of the creativeness....I got a gift card for bikini village, 2 beautiful espirit beach towels, and a beach bag....it was lovely! Btw.....nothing wrong with a card for a mani/pedi....I would love that!

well that makes sense to have two showers then with the divorced parents. I had told my sister (also my MOH) that I didn't need her to throw me a shower at all since most of the people that would be invited are all my friends who are coming to mexico with us anyways! Of course there would be a few others from work, or those who can't make it to mx with us, but I just wouldn't feel right otherwise. Our mom lives really close to you actually so obviously she won't be throwing me a shower from ON! My girlfriends mom (the same one whose shower I was at) even offered to throw me a shower since she was worried I might feel left out or like I was missing something. It was so sweet of her but thankfully I didn't feel too bad in declining since I am happy enough without one already!

My mom slaved in the kitchen for days making seashell cookies from sctarch as favors and homemade Mexican food to eat. Oh and did I mention I got sooooo spoiled!
I'm glad the shower was a success and that you had fun. The food sounds amazing- you're Mom was really sweet to do all of that for you! I can see it being overwhelming, too- that's a lot of people focused on you all at once.

I'm glad your shower went well this weekend. I had my shower to, and it was very overwhelming! and yes, I also felt a little guilty...

My mom came into town for the weekend and we got a lot of wedding stuff done. She made me realize that a) I had to have shoes B) FI needed an outfit to wear c) that I'm so glad that I'm doing a dw b/c I wouldn't survive otherwise!smile36.gif

We got 2 pairs of shoes, 1 cute pair of peep toes for the reception and another pair of cork wedges for the ceramony. I'm worried b/c I don't know if I'll be able to wear wedges in the sand on the beach. Does anyone know if this will work? Their not that tall, I'm just concerned that I might sink to much... We also bought a veil, which I'm really excited about it. I got a really good deal on the dress but the veil was a little out of my budget, so I'm so glad that mom offered to buy it. woot.gif

Showed my mom bunches of pics of our resort, beach setups, flower options and stuff like that. We decided that the beach needed a little bit of color, so we're going to do chair sashes/bows in midnight blue (our color) and we're going to put the same color fabric on the wedding arch/yuppa. Is anyone else using an arch or yuppa? I'm curious to know how you're decorating it.

Also, I'm curious what color your wedding dress is. Mine is not white and not a dark ivory, but somewhere in the middle... it's like a creamy colored ivory. FI is giving me such a hard time about what he's wearing and he totally doesn't understand that he can't be more white than me.

so happy you enjoyed yourself at th shower and you were spoiled, Don't feel guilty (easy said then done) but your parents (mom) have been to many of your family's shower and spent lots of money that way, so it's just in return everyone celebrates for your big day!!

And you get 2 at that, Enjoy it!! :) wont happen again lol.

My mom really wanted to throw one for me, but I told her I felt bad that the people who would come would be the people coming on the trip, I don't want them spending anymore money then they already are.

So she will throw me one when we come back for the AHR.

Next up Bachelorette party lol (March 6th) then a recovery time to leave for our wedding!!

coming so fast!!!

ShortNSweet,

your honeymoon sound so perfect. You two will have so much fun just relaxing. I didn't realize the resort's there also had everything on site. I figured it was just all inclusive. Guess that's how much I know lol.

Oh wow, you guys live so far apart. It will be nice I am sure to have him for good in your neck of the woods.

It'll be so different I am sure, have you guys lived together?

I love dolphins (I have a tattoo!!) your so lucky to be going to the cover, pls pls pls take lots of pic and lost them when you get back!!! i'm looking forward to them lol (I wont go swimming with them if they are locked up, and they all are)

Suzy, LOL!! Thank you for your wonderful/nice comments :) I am sure he'll like them!! (I hope lol)

BTW TAz is getting so much bigger, his so freaking adorable!!!! reminds me why I have want a kid, so keep posting those pics!!! lol

I can see your point in there not being much of a honeymoon for the second week with Taz, but I am sure your resort has some sort of babysitting service, even if it's an hour a day to get a little alone time. if the second week is in your budged go for it!!!! you wont regret it. (your to cute 'already had our honeymoon' lol) no you didn't!!! wink.gif (I know what you meant)

Yup Michele, your def lucky for getting special days for your wedding, FI been at his company for almost 5 years, and he had to take his last 2 week of vacation for the trip, and he wont have anymore until the following year!! I wont tell him, he'll get real jealous lol. As soon as we come back from the wedding, I must get a job and help pay some doubt off,so nervous I wont find one, or 1 I wont like, of even worse not hold the job down cause I am always sick sad.gif sad.gif stupid gov wont help me, they say I am not sick 'enough' lol ahh...

That's what we were looking for, a 10 day package, but it cost more then a 14 day package ($1000 more) so we just went with 14, I know we will be ready to go after 10 but ah well.

10 is perfect!!!

what if the 2 of you blocked vistaprint until after the wedding!! to hard for you guys?

Pls someone let me know when the brochures are on sale (like you guys I am addicted so I avoid going on at all cost lol)

Special days and extra vacation time is one of the perks of living up here. They'd never be able to get anyone to stay if they didn't help us get away once in a while lol. The sad part is that it takes us two days to get home/ get back (we need to fly to Edmonton, stay overnight and then go on to Halifax).

I think I just got one of the Vistaprint emails with brochures on sale. Have you signed up for there emails? It's worth it, I just wait until what I want goes on sale and then go through the email link.

I just put up a thread for my brochures in the DIY forum last week- here they are if you're looking for any ideas:

i tell you what... dating and now marrying someone that has a child is one of the most difficult things i've ever had to do. we rarely get time to ourselves and it's hard to be thrown into that situation, but i already know what kind of dad he'll be and we have been able to develop our "parenting style" together while not having a child together.. it's a truly interesting perspective and i'm happy for it. well you know, except for her mom, but she's not worth the energy to even think about!

tracy, absolutely gorgeous. seriously. if i could look half that tan and fabulous for the wedding i'd be beyond ecstatic!

shortnsweet, i can't wait to hear if you go to discovery cove!! i have been to disney world several times, but it's never warm enough to do that!

sasse, your shower sounds amazing!!! mine is on the 14th and i can't decide yet if i'm excited or nervous.. i hate being the center of attention like that!

speaking of the shower... i just checked our registries and people have bought things! i'm so excited! i'm rationalizing it because everyone keeps saying you need to make sure that the small dollar stuff doesn't all get bought up and the people who wait till the last minute aren't left with just expensive things.

i also made up our AHR invites this weekend too. i have never used zazzle before, but it was the only site i could find that would let me just do a plain black background and use my pictures in any configuration i wanted! they'll be pretty inexpensive too i think.. around $1 each for 4'' * 8'' color printed on both sides!

sasse & hoyt - congratulations on your showers! Very exciting!

I have told everyone I don't want one - don't need one - don't think I'll be getting one, and being in between jobs, I won't get a work one either. Between the wedding and the AHR i don't want people to do anything else for me.

Does time seem to be going by very quickly for you guys? It's FLYING for me!

Hehe I couldn't agree more! FI keeps saying he'd have gone insane by now if we were doing something locally, considering I apparently drive him crazy already!

Hey suzy - I've heard there's this program called "Pawn-your-kid-off-on-your-friends" and if you're interested I'm sure I could hook you up for a weekend smile120.gif

And Tracy - there is a big sale on with vistaprint right now until March 18. If they don't have the brochures listed on their website, PM your email addy to me again and I will forward it on to you!

Mel - those are SO NICE! I've never used publisher before so I might have to download the sample edition. Did you just have to pay the upload fee to use these in Vistaprint?? I was trying to figure out how that works because last time I thought they had a free upload, it wouldn't let me combine with a free item. I'd love if you could email the template to me!

erin - I would totally be excited watching for the items that people had bought me! It would be almost like christmas because you know that those items are bought and paid for and they're just for you!

Also, I think $1 each for your AHR invites is a pretty good price if you got exactly what you wanted! And that's a pretty decent size as well so good for you!

I pretty much did the same thing, telling everyone I didn't want/need a shower. But I'm such a loser because I had so many people around me suggesting that people in the office would throw me a shower (okay it was mostly ppl or companies who wanted me to register with them!) and now I sometimes wonder secretly if anyone here really is planning something for me, even though our group isn't really like that... you know? hehe give me one surprise birthday and now I wonder if everyone is conspiring! LOL!

For me, time isn't quite flying, but it's starting to feel like it's actually passing by and not sitting stagnant. Because I'm waiting on a few more orders (mugs, bags, guys pants, wedding party flip flops) and they all take a few weeks to come in, I find that the time seems to go by in bigger chunks.

But now I worry that I'm going to run out of time quicker than I can get everything done! LOL! Yep, starting to be a mess!!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
