Hi!

I searched for this, but couldn't find it, so if someone could link me to a previous thread, I would SO appreciate it! If not, here is my question:

We are not including registry information with our invites OR on our site.. we are subscribing to the "your presence is present enough" philosophy, and have stated this on our site. HOWEVER, my mother is throwing me a shower, and she is adamant that we register.. saying that people have been asking her. The fact is, people will get us gifts (at least for the shower), and we have had the advice from many people that it is better to register for things you might want instead of getting a bunch of stuff that you don't, because you didn't register..

The problem is - I have NO idea about what to register for! Are there sample registry lists on here that I am just cluelessly missing? We are living in an appt. right now with limited space, but are hoping to purchase a home within the next 1-2 years.. so part of me would like to register for nice things for our future home.. but i have no idea what that might be! We do not want to register for our honeymoon.. and we're canadian.. so we are thinking Sears? I am honestly clueless.. and to make matters worse, my Fi won't stop complaining about it (I'm kind of excited about it to be honest).. bah.. advice ladies! haha

We even registered for things like candles at Target just because we truly use them all the time and love 'em!

We also upgraded our kitchen appliances and pots/pans, plus asked for nice knives. And I finally broke down and just picked out a china pattern. It's cute and funky and I like it (went in thinking NO WAY will I register for that! lol).

We also registered for some nice towels... even a BluRay player! lol

pretty much anything is fair game! Definitely register though so you don't end up with a bunch of stuff taking up room that you don't want or like.

Hope that helps!

We have sort of the same problem - a too small, but full house that we won't be moving from for a year or more. We didn't register for much, but what we did was register for a few things online at myregistry.com so you aren't limited to a single store. We picked out a few replacement items (teakettle, towels and washcloths, sheets, baking pans, etc.) and then a few items we still need that won't take up too much room (like a small steam cleaner, BBQ grill utensils, universal remote...). Also, remind your FI that he can add things like video game accessories, tools, camping gear, whatever he's into which might get him a little bit excited about it too. We also put some Home Depot gift cards on there to put toward a new lawn mower.

Try not to stress about it and have a good time!

Have fun with it too! Add things you really want - cuz no matter how much $$ they are a few people could always go in on a more expensive gift together. And remember that sometimes, no matter what you register for, you will still get that random dishtowel LOL wink.gif

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
