Am I crazy?/What would you do?

Recommended Posts

Fi and the boys/dads are going to play a super expensive golf course in cabo. Heck I wish I had the time. I think it is a good way for him to pass the time, be focused and have some peaceful time, it may even keep him more sober than if he was sitting around the all inclusive resort all day.

His dad put it this way, it is once in a life time. I say he should spend the morning as he pleases.

They were also considering going the day before the wedding, but, I thought that might be rude to leave the resort for 5 hours the morning after 80 people came to be with him for his wedding.

Am I crazy to think this?
I am on the other side of this - i think it's a bit crazy (for lack of a better word lol).

your FI should do what he wants - it's his wedding too and if that relaxes him or sounds like fun what reason would there be not to do it?

you will be so busy with the girls and getting dressed you won't be part of what he is doing and how would you feel if he tried to control how you spent your wedding day? kwim?

anyway - i say no biggie and just make sure they understand to be back and dressed by a specific time :)

I think it's fine. Like Erika, my FI and a bunch of his friends and our dads are playing a super expensive golf course in Cabo. It's definitely a once-in-a-lifetime thing and I think it's nice for them all to have some "guy bonding" time and a nice memory he'll have forever.

You are not crazy, tell him to do it the day before or the day after if he has to but not the day of. I'm sure there will be plenty of things that need to be taken care of on your wedding day and you should not be left to worry about that alone while he is off fishing. Yes you are there for a vacation but the wedding day is not a vacation day, it is your wedding day and if it is not wedding related it can be done on a different day.

I would say the day of is pushing things a wee bit towards the edge. However, if there will be that many guests, I am sure there will be plenty of time to welcome them in the evening after his fishing trip. As someone else mentioned, pick the lesser of two evils. I know I would not mind my DH fishing, as he actualy golfed the day before our wedding. He too is on vacation and 9 times out of 10 it is the bride running around doing all the leg work, meet and greet, etc.

Let him go fishing with his buddies! If that's how he wants to spend his last few hours as a single man, then you should let him. He needs to be able to do something to relax before the big event too while you are at the spa. I'm sure your FI will be back in time for your wedding. NO worries!

Hey Ladies!

Thanks so much for all of your responses! I have mixed feelings about it all-

I definitely want him to enjoy the day (without me). I told him already, that if he hadn't asked me, I wouldn't have even known that he was gone since I'll be busy hanging with the girls and getting ready. But, now, I'm sure I'll worry that something might go wrong (I'm a worrier)....they'll be fishing on a boat--little risky on the wedding day (IMO). I think it would ease my mind if he went a different day or just did something like snorkeling at the resort.

I guess he doesn't need to be there all day on the day before the wedding, but, I thought OTHER people might be wondering why he's not around...you know what I mean?

But, I guess it doesn't matter....so, I suggested that he go the day before instead...now, he's just pissed about the whole thing...I told him he shouldn't have even asked me my opininon then...just do what you want...right now, I have no time to play these games! :) (Sorry, just venting a bit)

no you're not crazy! the day of the wedding...i would so tell him "absolutely not!" but i don't see anything wrong with the day before. you hav eto remember that you are all also going to be on vacation and i think your guests will understand that too. and besides, it's the morning after most of your guests arrive.

How many days is going to be there with his boys? If it's only a few days where they are all there I say let him go. If they have a whole week together, maybe they can pick another day.

My DH spent the entire day before the wedding trying to get over the worst hangover ever and even he made it on time with no problems. You should be fine no matter what.

    • we ended up using Facebook messenger when we were in Mexico - the hotel had free wifi and at least 1 person from each family/couple had FB on their phone already - it was pretty easy to communicate among guests "hey, we're heading to the beach bbq for lunch." or "everyone is hanging at the small pool today".  a plus was that some people tried to get a hold of me via FB on the day of the wedding and I was totally not checking my phone - they were asking if the wedding was outside given the rain forecast, thankful my mom, MOH and a few other friends were on the group and could respond for me :)

    • Hi Everyone, So, I was cleaning out my closet and realized that I never sold off my extra wedding OOT bag stuff from our wonderful DW.   46 Daily Spanish for Dummies 30 Pool colored OOT fabric bags - approximately 13in x 13in. They lay flat.  I used them for our wedding and they were perfect for everything we needed to fit in each bag. There’s a slight shade variation in the group; I’m guessing some were cut from a different bolt of fabric.  They are also a little wrinkled from storage and will probably be wrinkled from shipping. I have three additional ones, but they somehow got something on them (likely toddler related). If needed, I can try to wash it out and send those as well.
    • I’m getting married in six months to my foreign girlfriend. I was advised by a friend that one of the things I need to do before saying I do is to get a prenuptial agreement. Basically it’s supposed to protect my assets and properties in case my relationship with my future wife goes down the drain. I don’t know though if this is an acceptable practice when marrying Kiev ladies. I don’t want to do it if it would be insulting on her end. I need advice on this. Please help me.
