My site visit

Recommended Posts

OK first of all I apologize for no pics! smile41.gif I forgot my camera!!! Sorry mommy brain today monkey.gif Anyways, here is a bit about the visit. (DRYSDALES)

When we got there it looked really nice. All beautiful trees and just a really nice country look to it. The woman who worked there was super nice and helpful. She took us through a door into this kinda wearhouse looking area. She said, OK this is the reception greenhouse. So in my head Im like huh.gif?? This is it?? I kinda expected more. I guess since it wasnt done up yet it didnt look to great. In all honesty, I think it would look nice decorated, but of course all I could think about is how much extra money it was gonna cost just for decorations! So then I asked her if it was air conditioned and she said NO! Again, another shock. My wedding is in June and I cant imagine being in a greenhouse with no air! She said that it would be warm but all the walls of windows opened. Granted this would cool it down, but it would also let all the bugs in. Also what if it rained?? Then it would be hot and humid. So after she showed us the room she told us that there are no bathrooms in the reception area. And people would have to go to the washrooms around back. Ya, cause thats fair to all the old people coming! OK so now we take the walk over to where the ceremony could be held. It was nice but nothing amazing. It kinda looked like getting married in someones yard (ironically that is where you get married, the old owners live there! LOL) I agreed with her that you would get great photos, but for the price I dont think its worth it. The woman was very nice and helpful and the place is pretty but I think we are crossing this one off the list.

OK sorry for that long post!!! popcorn.gif

No a/c?!? Hahaha, omg I'd cross it off right then and there! Can you imagine being stuck in there on a hot day? No one would be motivated to dance because it is too darn hot and sticky! Oh well, at least you're closer to making a decision!!

I agree those would be deal breakers for me, that was one of the first things I asked about our reception site-bathrooms and AC!

Hopefully you can visit the other two places soon.

When I went to the wedding there it was in October, so didn't even think about air conditioning. It was decorated beautifully, they had these trees, flowers & huge urns of flowers and plants inside, I assumed that they blonged to the farm (since it is a greenhouse on a tree farm) LoL. I didn't know about the bathrooms we left as soon as dinner was over, thats hillarious...

Good luck on your next site visits, hope you find one you like!!

Laura - have you ever heard of the Cranberry Resort in Collingwood? I had some friends who got married there last year and it was just beautiful! You could still get married on the water, but be close to home!

They have so many options for weddings and the service and food were just awesome!

Just a thought...

well I'm sorry to hear that Laura. I know the photos you posted before of Drysdales looked quite nice. So for sure it's crossed off the list? Don't they do several weddings a year? Just wondering cuz those things like ac and bathrooms would be huge for most brides.. perhaps they should invest. LOL who am I to say that?

Good luck Laura with the hunt!!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
