Dreams La Romana

2 hours for hair and makeup eh? I never thought it would take that long. I wear my hair straight and wear very little makeup on a daily basis. Maybe I should book my appts for 11am then! I want time to eat, calm my nerves, get dressed, shed some tears, touch up my makeup, do some photos...all before 3pm. Thanks girls!!! What would I do without you?!

OMG, Congrats Amy!! That's so awesome!
And LaRomanaBride congrats as well and welcome back! I'm so looking forward to your review!

I feel like it's been forever since I've been able to get on here and chat with you lovely brides to be. I know that there will soon be a flurry of you getting married in April, May, etc. How is everyone feeling about that? Are the butterflies starting yet?smile41.gif

I'm getting super excited now; it's six months to the day and I just mailed out my homemade boarding pass invites!smile159.gif I can't wait to start getting "official" responses (most already knew the date and details before I'd even started the invites!)

Anyhow, I look forward to hearing from you "soon-to-be..." ladies!!

My fiance and I will be married before we get there, and I was assuming that Tiara or someone else from the resort will do the ceremony, but then I heard about the pastor who is american and speaks perfect english. Does anyone know how well Tiara's english is? I would like to use her since it does not cost any extra, but if she is going to be hard to understand, I might want to pay extra for the pastor who speaks english. So has anyone talked with Tiara and knows if she is hard to understandhuh.gif
Ladies... how can I put this as delicately as possible without offending anybody? Hmm...unless your native language is Spanish, you do not want Tiara or any other person who works for the resort conducting your "ceremony!" Yes, Tiara speaks fairly good english but she has quite an audible accent and if you have seen the ceremony that they do there you will realize that it won't give you that warm and fuzzy feeling that we're all after. My recommendation is absolutely to go with Pastor Rick who does both religious and non-religious ceremonies. If anyone would like to see a sample let me know and I'll e-mail it to you.

After seeing my FI in his suit that we ordered online, I am definately getting more excited. It's making this all so much more real!

Does anyone know if a microphone will be needed/available/provided for a ceremony in the gazebo? Since your guests are outside of the gazebo, I'm wondering if the wind and ocean will be louder than us.

Unfortunately, he can only do symbolic. If you contact him, he'll encourage you to do it at home to save money and your sanity!!

Another option might be to have the judge do the civil bit and work alongside Pastor Rick. You kinda get the best of both worlds!

Hi, Nadia! I just saw that you sent out boarding pass invites:) Thats such a cute idea! We did something similar. We had my fiance's cousin make passport invitations on photoshop and they came out so cute! And then my fiance added an extra little boarding pass inside to let them know about our website and how to RSVP:) Its such a unique idea and everyone loved them! I'm sure your guests will love your, as well!

Last night I was getting a little anxious because I saw that a lot of girls on here and other forums were booking outside dj's and photographers. So I read some reviews and contactd DJ Mannia, Pastor Rick, and some photographers- and they replied within the hour! And, they are all available for my date! I am so relieved and so happy! I am also so grateful to have found this forum because I would have just gone with the resort stuff- which I am sure is good, too...but I think these extra touches will make our day even better:) So thanks everyone for the great info:)

Pastor Rick is already booked on my day, do you know of anyone else? I asked Tiara but waiting on her reply.

FYI I was told 1 hour for hair and make-up but have left in some extra time.

Congrats on getting legally married! I think we might go next month as we need a witness to even file the paper work!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
