Hi Taylorbabe,

I have the free package (Dreams wedding in Paradise) I e-mailed Tiara in regards to the cocktail hour...here is what we wrote to one another:

Hi Tiara,

I want to have a cocktail hour (gold menu)....does this include an open bar?

Answer:

Dear Bianca:

I hope this email finds you well. In response to your inquiry, I would like to confirm you that the cocktail hour includes an open bar for 1 hour.

I never asked about drinks at the reception....I should def. look into that :) If you find out before me, pls let me know :) Im doing the reception @ the SSG deck and Im getting the Silver Menu...hopefully some drinks are included; Im paying so much for this wedding already :D

Your day is coming fast!!! I just reserved witn Angels Accents, was wondering if you got your bouquets yet and how they looked and felt..

Hey ya...yesss its so close....ahhhhhhhhh :)

I ordered a bouquet, 6 peonies to decorate my cake and also a boutonniere for my hubby. I took pics but never uploaded them...hopefully I will have some time in the next few days to do so...Im @ my parents place for the weekend and I left my camera @ home.

I can tell you that Im super pleased w/ her work! Her work is amazing and shes such an awsome person. My only complaint is of the boutoniere; it came out nice but huge!! Its an orchid but came out the size of my hand LOL so i will have to order one from the resort ;)

But no worries...her work is amazing so I cant complain...I never contacted her to tell her was was unhappy...shes truly telented and you can tell she puts her heart and sould into all her flowers :)

Let me know when you get yours

xoxo Bee

My fiancee did call, but just to reassure myself and you as well, I asked some more questions and will keep you posted. My understanding and Jody's (fiancee) as well is that past 60 people there is an extra charge.  BUT i just emailed her to get a written confirmation.

This is what her response was originally (seen in blue)

  1. As i will probably have approximately 40 people (all staying at the resort) I see that I qualify for the free wedding. Is that correct?
  2. With the free package, can I rent out the Seaside Grill? Yes.
  3. What is the cost of this? USD 1,000.00 + 26%
  4. What is the menu for this? The menu of the Seaside Grill
  5. Does it matter how many people I have at the wedding, such as is there an extra charge per person? This price will cover up to 60 people
  6. Can I hire a DJ for Seaside Grill? Yes USD 250.00 up to 4 hours.
  7. Is their wine served with the dinner at the Seaside Grill? Yes, domestic wine
  8. Is their barservice at the Seaside grill during our reception? Yes.
  9. Is there place for dancing? Yes.
  10. Do i need to pay a deposit for the DJ in advance, or is that taken into account when we arrive (we plan on using the DJ for 250$  in your Extra's package) You will pay this upon your arrival
  11. I am thinking of hiring HDC for photos, is there any specific information I should know in regards to this? Such as fees for them to be on the resort? You will need to pay a day pass for them.
  12. I will need to make appointments for hair and trials, do you do this or do I contact someone else? We will do this when we start planning the wedding details.
  13.  When do you need to know the final amount of guests? Some are booking with separate carriers but all are staying at the Dreams la Romana? I need to know this at least 15 days prior the wedding date.

now the following is the questions I just sent off:

Hi Tiara,

I have a couple of questions about the seaside grill and my reception.

1. During the reception (in which we are renting out the SSG for 1260$) , you confirmed that there is bar service and house wine served at the tables, is there an extra charge for this?
2. When setting up the SSG for the reception, how many people can sit at each table? I need to know this information as I am bringing centerpieces and need to know how many to bring.
3. After 11pm, is the bar still open outside the SSG?
4. For our Photographer, how much is the day pass and how long does it last?
5. I would still like to have a cocktail hour on the pier, what will be the cost per person?
6. My ceremony is at 3, what time would the SSG be open for my guests to arrive?
7. What time would the dinner be served?.
8. What is the best building for me to request to have my room in, since I am getting married at the gazebo?
9. Do i have to have a day pass for Pastor Rick aswell, or is that included in my package?
10. Do you have any images of the Sea Side Grill inside? Any from a past wedding?

Thank you for being very patient with me.. I appreciate you must be very busy.

As SOON as I get answers I will let you know. And if there is an answer that isn't clear, then Jody will call her during the week.

hey dana,

Dont know if you ever read my review but it answers a couple of your answers (its in my siggy).  I would stay in building 5 and would contact the spa directly and book the hair as i had some issues as there was another wedding the same day.

Hi everyone, another newbie here!

I got back from Dreams La Romana a couple of weeks ago, where my now fiancé proposed to me on my birthday :). Trust me when I say that you have picked a wonderful location for your DW! We had such a perfect time that we have decided to return to the resort for our wedding :) (which I hope is testiment to how incredible a resort DLR is!) Alas, our wedding probably wont be until summer 2012 or even 2013, but I have very much enjoyed reading through the last 124 pages, getting my head around all the information and starting to plan the odd bits. Thank you very much for the incredible collaboration of information!

Sunandsand- I'm pretty sure FI and I were on the preferred beach just before/ as your wedding was starting and I must say I was disgusted by some of the behaviour of the swimwear clad DLR guests. I'm so pleased that you had a wonderful wedding and glad that someone took charge of the onlookers for you!

LizzieJayne, I think I may have been on a computer in the Preferred lounge when you were putting your photos online! If so, I was very envious seeing them, they were beautiful- it looks like you had an incredible day :).

And finally, a big congratulations to all the other DLR brides and brides to be.

Kim x

PS: If anyone has a pricelist for HDC photography, I'd really, really appreciate it! It seems silly emailing them so far in advance, but I'd like to get an idea of costings as that will heavily impact how long we have to wait.

Hi there,

Well it seemed they have changed their policies i'm afraid! I'm guessing too many of us booking the SSg and they don't want to lose money. Here are the answers to my questions:

1. During the reception (in which we are renting out the SSG for 1260$) , you confirmed that there is bar service and house wine served at the tables, is there an extra charge for this? The price for the exclusivity of the restaurant at this point is set for USD 1,000.00 + 26%. The bar service now have an additional charge of USD 10.00 + 26% per person. This was established on July 19th, 2010 and from now on. Please take the note that the exclusivity cost are subject to change, and it might increase for 2011.

2. When setting up the SSG for the reception, how many people can sit at each table? I need to know this information as I am bringing centerpieces and need to know how many to bring. This information will depend on the type of set up that you will want for the reception. You can have round tables or rectangular tables. I can recommend you to use the round tables since they look more elegant for a wedding reception, but you have the option to have rectangular ones if you want to.
3. After 11pm, is the bar still open outside the SSG? No, the bar will be available until 11pm after that, we just have the lobby bar and the disco bar open until 2am.
4. For our Photographer, how much is the day pass and how long does it last? You will have to pay USD 65.00 per person (in case that he brings an assistance or someone else) This will allow him to be on the property for 7 hours.
5. I would still like to have a cocktail hour on the pier, what will be the cost per person? This will depend if you have the silver option (USD 8.00 + 26%) or the gold option (USD 10.00 + 26%). See cocktail options attached.
6. My ceremony is at 3, what time would the SSG be open for my guests to arrive? The restaurant will be open at 6:00pm.
7. What time would the dinner be served? We normally serve the dinner at 7pm, but this could vary depending on your wedding program (If you have one for the wedding reception) like first dance, Bride and father dance, Groom and mother dance, speeches, etc.
8. What is the best building for me to request to have my room in, since I am getting married at the gazebo?  All the buildings are good, but if you want to be close to the gazebo area the closest buildings are Building 5, 6 (just suites), 7 and 8 (just suites).
9. Do i have to have a day pass for Pastor Rick aswell, or is that included in my package? This is not included on the wedding packages, but as he will just stay on the property for 1 hour, we normally did not charge for this.
10. Do you have any images of the Sea Side Grill inside? Any from a past wedding?

Pink_Petals,

I couldn't agree more!!!!!  This constant changing in prices, times, etc...is beginning to wear very thin!  I just sent Tiara and Yanna an email since neither of them have responded to our last one that was sent on June 14th.  We were given the original rate back in April of this year which DID include drinks and menu, so this price difference is not sitting well with me AT ALL.  We went with the "free" package but it's becoming more and more ridiculous at every corner...need a dirty martini!  :)

We'll see if either Tiara or Yanna get back to me...I'll let you know what I'm told.

Nancy

Hi girls, haven't posted here for a while,

Congrats to the recent brides, Lizzy Jane the photos are fab, can i ask what website you ordered flowers from, and also the price if you don't mind me being nosy!

We've our wedding booked for 16/3/2011, should i be expecting official confirmation or a receipt from Tiara, the deposit was taken off my card on July 1st.

I'm thinking of having our dinner on the beach, would it be windy in the evenings, the last thing i want is sand blowing into our food

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!

I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
