Welcome to the site, you will find a lot of answers here which is a lot easier than asking the wedding coordionators who are up to their eyes, and although your wedding is really important to you they realise its a year away and believe me you will change your mind on lots between now and then lol Ours is 7 weeks today and I've changed my mind on decoration, wedding ceremony and reception venue lol.

Hope you enjoy your planning, I kinda miss havin it all to plan :o( ask any questions here you'll always get answers

Hey ladies!

Ok so I know It's been ages since I posted on here but It's taken me the best part of a whole evening to catch up with everyone's posts haha.

I've just realised Dolfin is actually married now! Soooo excited and can't wait for your review (When you read this)

Lizzy if you miss having planning to do then please by all means take over mine :-)

Congrats and welcome DRbride :-)

Jenne, I've heard loads and loads of mixed reviews about the rooms, is it true their all the same apart from the views?

I agree with Jenne - only bother with the preferred club if your other guests are going preferred as well. Otherwise, you will be slightly far from where they are.

I had my parents and the bridal party upgraded to the preferred club and then some of our other guests chose to upgrade themselves, so it was nice for us to be in the preferred side as well.

Plus you get to use the uber quiet, relaxing preferred club pool. The free wifi, 10% spa discount and premium booze was nice too but you can live without.

Some of our guests just borrowed our black preferred club keys to get the bright yellow preferred club towels in order to use the pool area - then no one asks you any questions or even checks into whether you're preferred or not!

We booked the oceanfront suite, I didn't realize at the time that it would be part of the preferred club. I was lucky because all of our guests were in the building right beside ours. So it worked out great. I am so glad we splurged on the suite, was a treat for us and also gave the girls lots of room to get ready.

The day after the wedding, we got away from our guests and spent the afternoon in the preferred club pool. It was nice to get away from all the partying and have some "us" time. I would recommend getting a suite. Nice to feel a little more pampered then the usual vacations.

Thank you so much for your replies and welcoming words!

None of our are guests are going preferred so we chose not to as well and good point of being near them!

My fiance and I are going for 2 weeks- 1st week in deluxe room, 2nd week in the honeymoon suite. I read that any suite is part of the preferred club, have any of you heard that? Also unlike Dreams PC there is only 1 honeymoon suite at La romana, maybe I need to stop researching and stick to this site. :)

We'll we are back! thanks for all the well wishes! the wedding was great, a couple of bumps in the road but nothing major. we did the wedding ceremony at the gazebo and reception on the beach with the bonfire for the last hour. I will post a full review with pics soon (need to get some from family and pro photographer). would def recommend being in building 5 as the spa is at one end and the gazebo is at the other end. you dont have to be in the preferred club to be there.

Just noticed on the last few posts about preferred club, someone saying about premium brands, are these only available if your preferred club? It doesn't say that on the website, does ithuh.gif? My best friend will be very upset as she only drinks Bombay Sapphire and I told her she would be able to get it. OOps

Welcome to the site DRbride2011 :)

Dolfinluck; Welcome back and Congrats to you and your new hubby :) Happy to hear overall you had a wonderful wedding. Cant wait to see pics and read your review!

Its been a while since Ive posted...been a little busy!

So I did some shopping for wedding stuff and my dress finally arrived and I wanted to share it with you guys :) Hope this might help some people with their wedding planning! I know Im probably supposed to post this on the planning section of the site but your guys' opinion matters more to me since we are all getting married at the same resort :)

This is for my sand ceremony; Sand Picture frames are either expensive or sold out. So I bought this frame from Home Sense and Im going to drill a hole at the top where the sand will be poured. The two vases I got from Michaels which were cheap but I saw the same exact ones art Walmart which were even cheaper. I going to buy my colored sand (hot pink and brown) online.

So I looked all over the place for a Cake Topper Monogram but they were all 50+ plus shipping so I bought this one for $25 from Michaels.

So after being quoted $200 for a centerpiece at DLR, I decided to buy these apothecary jars and fill them in with diverse things (i.e. preserved roses, flameless candle, etc). I will post a pic of the final product once its done. I got really lucky and I found these at Home Sense...they are usually pretty expensive but I only paid $10 with the discounted price.

I looked around a lot for a nice guest book and couldnt find one I really liked so I went on Etsy.com and found a lot of them. This one was my favourite. I paid (with shipping/handling) $54. Not the best deal but I just loved it so much.

I received my approval photos for my bouquet and boutonniere from Angel's Accents a few days ago and Im super happy with them. Angel is amazing and her work is just breathtaking!! I would totally recommend her!!

These are my earrings...I got them from Bittersweet at Yorkdale Mall...

This is my necklace, also purchased from Bittersweet.

The jewelry cost a lot and I felt really bad...I actually wanted to return them but my parents who are super duper amazing (they are paying for our entire wedding) really insisted on me keeping it so I did.

And finally my dress came in :) *YAY* Im going in for my first fitting at the end of June.

I still got a lot to do (buy parasols, lanterns, table linens, ring bowl, petal isle runner, etc) but so far Im on track.

Hope you guys liked them...sorry for the long post

xoxo

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
