To Veil or Not to Veil??

Recommended Posts

I can't decide if I should wear a veil or not. I had planned to and even made myself one, it's about elbow length. That was until I chatted with the designer of my dress. She thinks that a veil isn't the best idea. Her reasons are; We put allot if effort into the design of the back of the dress and a veil would cover it. Also she thinks that a veil would be hot and if it's windy, blowing all over the place.

Here is the thread that has my dress picks. http://bestdestinationwedding.com/forum/t36515

I was planning to wear my hair up in a bun or French twist with the veil underneath and a flower on the side ( the same flower in the pics w/o the tulle frame). The girl who made my dress thinks I should wear the flower with the tulle frame with that hair style.

I don't know what to do now. A veil seems so bridal to me and sounds lovely, but I can see her point about the back of the dress. I would love some opinions.

Awesome dress, and I love your look! I agree with wayneswifey but would suggest doing some photos with the veil (it looks great lit up by the sun) and some with out it too. You and your dress have the old hollywood glamour look. Amazing!

Birdcage Veil - Birdcage Veils - Photo Gallery This website has pictures, some with feathers, some with flowers. It might give you some ideas?

I agree with Helen_S81. A birdcage veil would suit the overall style of the dress and allow you to see the back of the dress...while letting you where a veil.

I have to admit I decided against a veil after watching a wedding when I was recently at RMB. The wind was blowing it all over the place the entire time. I think I am just going to wear my hair up with flowers.

If you had wanted the veil, you should definitely wear it. If it is a single layer veil, you should be able to see the back detailing through it. Your friend did a lot for you making the dress and you should appreciate that - but it is YOUR wedding and if that makes you feel like a bride, then I say wear it. When else in your life will you wear a veil?

Just make sure to take some pictures without it - especially from the back - that should make your friend happy :)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
