I can't decide if I should wear a veil or not. I had planned to and even made myself one, it's about elbow length. That was until I chatted with the designer of my dress. She thinks that a veil isn't the best idea. Her reasons are; We put allot if effort into the design of the back of the dress and a veil would cover it. Also she thinks that a veil would be hot and if it's windy, blowing all over the place.
Here is the thread that has my dress picks. http://bestdestinati...om/forum/t36515

I was planning to wear my hair up in a bun or French twist with the veil underneath and a flower on the side ( the same flower in the pics w/o the tulle frame). The girl who made my dress thinks I should wear the flower with the tulle frame with that hair style.

I don't know what to do now. A veil seems so bridal to me and sounds lovely, but I can see her point about the back of the dress. I would love some opinions.

Awesome dress, and I love your look! I agree with wayneswifey but would suggest doing some photos with the veil (it looks great lit up by the sun) and some with out it too. You and your dress have the old hollywood glamour look. Amazing!

How about a birdcage veil? I think I saw some pictures with someone who used one with a flower. That way it won't cover the back of your dress.

I agree with Helen_S81. A birdcage veil would suit the overall style of the dress and allow you to see the back of the dress...while letting you where a veil.

I have to admit I decided against a veil after watching a wedding when I was recently at RMB. The wind was blowing it all over the place the entire time. I think I am just going to wear my hair up with flowers.

I know the birdcage veil seems like it would be the best idea, but I'm not a fan of them. They just don't look good on me.

Also, it's just the 2 of us, so no big reception. I'm looking at just the wedding and pictures.

I had a veil under my hair and it totally didn't take away from the back of the dress. It depends a lot of the type of veil. With mine, you could easily see through it. Here's the only pic I have of it so far...

Andrea, that is the style I want. The veil I made is similar, just a little shorter. It's between mt wrist and elbow.

I think I still like the veil look and will take both. If it's really windy I'll go no veil, but if the weather is nice I'll wear the veil.

If you had wanted the veil, you should definitely wear it. If it is a single layer veil, you should be able to see the back detailing through it. Your friend did a lot for you making the dress and you should appreciate that - but it is YOUR wedding and if that makes you feel like a bride, then I say wear it. When else in your life will you wear a veil?
Just make sure to take some pictures without it - especially from the back - that should make your friend happy :)
