Post all "Knock Off Wedding Dress" questions/comments here

So I have gone through every single page of this forum...yes...it took a while.  :)  I fell in love with Vera Wang's Gemma and she was way beyond my budget---no hope.  So I ordered a replica off ebay.  Seller has great feedback---100% positive.  Seller was quite responsive to my questions...and I ordered a custom sized Gemma replica.

The one I bought from ebay was about $170 including shipping.  (insert GASP here). I know...I know!!  I was totally ok with losing all of the money and having to buy another dress.  In fact....I had prepared myself for the odds of having a hot mess show up at my door and having to start the search again and accepted that prior to buying it. However....I just received my photos from the seller and I am very happy.  For the price, I think I got very very close to the look of the $6,500 gown. She even replicated the "Blizzard Beading".  I don't have the dress itself yet...so I will write  a full review when I can try it on.  But I am VERY happy with the initial photos.  I have asked her to make it slightly sweetheart on the neckline, but below are the photos she sent. I don't like the sash she tied on.  I'm going to remove that and buy a sparkley one from Etsy.  Also---IDress Front.jpgDress Back.jpgDress Blizzard Beading.jpg requested a lace up back so I could tighten it to nip in my waist a bit and thought this would give me flexibility on the fit since it was made to my measurements.  But I have heard that sometimes they end up tight.   The seller's name is Vivian and she was in China so you have a few minor language issues...but she was very responsive on email.

Ladies - I need your help.  Now that I've found the dress, I'm trying to find the jewelry.  I've found a few I really like:

2. http://www.etsy.com/listing/52919909/wedding-jewelry-fallon-crystal-flower

3. I think I like the necklace from #2, but the drop shown here: http://www.etsy.com/listing/69095410/carly-bridal-pearl-and-crystal-wedding

4. http://ep.yimg.com/ca/I/yhst-130187111425031_2170_8758841 (from this website: http://misunbridal.com/rjewelry.html )

5. http://www.swarovski.com/Web_CA/en/1035228/product/Lunar_Moonlight_Necklace.html?CatalogCategoryName=0108

6. http://www.etsy.com/listing/58353773/swarovski-rhinestones-necklace-and

Okay I need to stop there - I'm way too indecisive.

Sorry for just posting links, but every time I post more than one picture, my post never comes through!

WOW...so close to the inspiration dress! The only apparent difference of course is the belt. If you can I would just have them add a bit more bling to it.  It seems a bit plain and almost just blends with the rest of the dress. Unless of course you meant for that then its still fabulous!!

Ladies, so last time I posted I told you that my mum decided to order/buy from a dhgate seller instead of going with the company that I used for my dress. I used dressilyme and wrote a long review on here. My mum got a few quotes: Shades of Pale's cheapest quote was $150 US Dressilyme's quote was #167.58US plus shipping plus costom sizing. She found a seller on dhgate called Bestdavid. Bestdavid has 98% positive feedback. Bestdavid was selling the dress for $128  canadian dollars and free shipping so she ordered from best david after she did a live chat with them. She order this dress on January 11, 2012 and recieved the dress today January 18, 2012. Overall, my mum is very happy about this dress. The quality of this dress is amazing. The craftmanship is stunning. The dress is fully lined and stitched beautifully. The flowers on this dress is stunning. Her only complainst are the color of the dress is a little darker and that the bust is a little tight. I think the bust size is 1inch too small and she is not used to wearing a built in bra. I think it will be okay once she tries it on a couple more times. She can't gain any weight in the next 4 months lol. In real life the dress doesn't look tight at all and she has a lot of room to move around. This is the dress right out of the bag! I think this dress is perfect for my wedding in May and she can wear it again after my wedding.

Hi I have not been on this sight for almost a year but I realize I only seem to have reviewed one of the two dresses I received from babyonline.  I unfortunately did not take photos of my dress before the wedding and it is so long ago now that I don't know if babyonline's standards are the same now from looking on this forum they can be a bit hit and miss.  I was extremely happy with both dresses and wore both at my wedding. My only issues I remember are.

1. I had to get the bustles done here but if I had done more research before ordering the dresses I would have asked them to do it (so don't know if this was an option) but I recommend asking for it if alterations are as expensive where you are as they are in Australia.

2. My second dress was a little long (2cm) but that could have been my mistake I was paranoid about it being too short.

3. Both dresses were a little loose on the wedding day which made the second dress uncomfortable after a couple of hours and I had to put the first dress back on. This was not there fault I lost about 5kg from stress in the 4 days before the wedding!

Don't know how to put the photos into this message they are in my profile?   If you have any questions I am happy to try and answer

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
