From the sounds of it not ALL guests originally booked at the Riu Vallarta are being upgraded to the Riu Palace Pacifico. The Riu has actually been really great about this whole change.
I'm glad to hear that they are working with you. You must be getting so excited!

We are considering this. I have to look a little more into it. Did you see anyone get married in the gazebo?
We had our dinner at the Steakhouse. The set up was nice. They provided a book table and we had 3 tables of 10. The only thing was the service was extremely slow. We ran an hour into the time we reserved the pool bar for and they did not exted our time there, so that kind of sucked.

I wish that we would have rented the pool bar for longer. We were having such a good time that we could have stayed longer. I also wish I would have been more specific as far as what pictures I wanted from the photographer.

Mary
They are not included. We tipped the minister and planner separately. We also brought gifts for the wedding planners as well. I think we tipped the minister $50 and the planners $100...maybe more. We also tipped out our bartenders and the waitstaff who served us dinner.

I just booked my wedding for Riu Vallarta for July 15th at 5:00! I'm really excited and everything sounds perfect - the only thing I am a little concerned about is the poolside party being made to close at 11:00! Yikes!! What are some other options for continuing with the party? Is there a disco there everybody can go to or are there other bar areas at the Riu that are open until 1 or 2? I read another persons post where they are renting out the ballroom and planning their own wedding (not getting a package) but that seems like too much of an ordeal for me. I'm trying to get the best stress free wedding possible! :)

There is a disco at the Riu Vallarta and there are a couple of bars that you could go to after the poolside bar gets closed. We planned to go to the disco but honestly we were just too tired the day of the wedding. I think the disco opened at 11 (maybe 10?) and I think it was open until 2 or 3 am.

I have now settled on the Riu Vallarta for November 2010. I just wanted to thank all the brides and family members who posted on this thread. You definitely helped with the decision and you make it all seem much more real!

Thanks!

    • I’m getting married in six months to my foreign girlfriend. I was advised by a friend that one of the things I need to do before saying I do is to get a prenuptial agreement. Basically it’s supposed to protect my assets and properties in case my relationship with my future wife goes down the drain. I don’t know though if this is an acceptable practice when marrying Kiev ladies. I don’t want to do it if it would be insulting on her end. I need advice on this. Please help me.
    • So we are currently looking for an all inclusive resort for the wedding. We have 60 guests and found all the Dreams resorts as options and all of them gave us a quote and discounted price since it’s off season etc. Resorts in Punta Canta gave us a reasonable price, Dominicus gave us a really good deal then La Romana Resort and Spa gave us their regular price and so hard to negotiate. Will someone tell us how special is this resort that they won’t give us a good discount when all my guests are staying in their resort for 5-8 days. We are bringing $$$ in their resort and not give us a discount?  What is so special with this resort?  Can somebody recommend a beautiful resort?
