Palace Resorts - outside photographer?

Recommended Posts

That's good to know the raw footage is an option.  I have a friend who does editing for a living, so I could definetly have him edit the raw footage if I had it all.

I haven't decided which resort I am getting married at yet.

I'm very interested in this topic too - getting married at Beach Palace in September and I need to book my photographer. I'm definitely not using the resort photographer, they just aren't up to my caliber. I've corresponded with several photographers in the Cancun area that I like. I just don't want to have issue on the day with this. On that note, would anyone care to share the approximate cost of their photographer? This is something that I don't want to skimp on but I also don't want to get robbed.

My wedding coordinator, Lauren, replied in writing that it's okay to used outside vendors if they are guests of the wedding and staying at the resort which is NOT what I want so I am continuing to work this out. I want to use local vendors that will not be staying at the hotel. Ultimately the resort wants to make sure they get a nice chunk of the revenue either through the mark up of their preferred vendor or by an outside vendor being an overnight guest. Hellllooooo we have 21 rooms booked already, I think we're bringing a nice chunk of revenue! Sheesh!

Hi! I also wanted to book with the Beach or Moon Palace, but the Beach Palace contact (Janina) told me the photographers would have to be guests of the resort and staying at the resort.  Did anyone find a way to get around this recently?  I really wanted to go with the Palace Resorts, but if they don't realize photography is one of the most important elements of the wedding experience, they may not be a good venue after all.

Thanks!

I'm getting married at the Cancun Palace and I have hired an outside photographer. I only have to purchase the day pass for the photographer and his assistant. I just held firm about the photographer and they agreed to my request. Unfortunately, Palace likes to change their outside vendor rules and allowances on a whim. Good luck!

Thanks! I'm going to see if I can try to talk them into allowing our own photographer. I just read a series of unhappy reviews about their in-house photographers and unfortunately not being able to choose our own photographer would have to be a deal breaker for us.  Thanks for the tip and best of luck with your wedding!!!

Palace Resorts used to not let any outside photographers in at all. They recently changed the rules to where you can do a day pass or book them a night at the hotel. I asked a couple people at Sun Palace Resort and they said it would be fine. I would get it confirmed just in case before you book the photographer. But this is why all the outside photographers say they can't work at Palace Resorts from past experiences.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
