We have our wedding booked at EPM for February 15th 2013.  We went to the resort this year the check it out and loved it.  We had issues with the coordinators, turned up for our scheduled meeting with Gustavos, to be told that he no longer worked there, then told to come back in an hour to meet with someone else, who then showed up late.  Daniella showed us round but when we started trying to email her we got an email weeks later from Nayeli saying that she was taking over, three coordinators before we'd even booked did not bode well!

I have had preferences for the Conference terrace and x lounge noted but won't be secure until 3 months out.  I appreciate all of the feedback on this site as it reassures me that the day will be great no matter what.

Has anyone had a symbolic wedding there?  is it nice?  I want my family there for when I get married but we are going to have to get remarried in the us anyway.  Don't want my family to feel they are being duped out of a 'real' wedding but not sure it's worth all the blood tests and stuff just for the names sake.  Thoughts?

Anyone else going to be there in February?

Hi Amy,

Congrats on your upcoming wedding!  I am leaving in 23 days for our wedding Nov 17th.  We are doing a symbolic ceremony for the same reasons you are thinking.  We are getting married at the courhouse in the US a week before we leave and my parents are going to be the witnesses.  We are not telling the other guests that we will already be married that way they don't feel cheated.  I have not worked with Nayeli, but I have read several posts that it takes quite a while for her to get back to people.  I am working with Llenny and she has been great.  Longest I have gone without an email response has been a week.  And now she has been emailing me asking for things like the seating chart.  I also have received the wedding planner numerous times with all the updates in it as well as the photos of flower arrangements I have sent in the past.  She even suggested a different flower for the bridesmaid bouquets because i wanted to keep the cost down and she cut the price by 75% on each.  Let me know if you have any other questions!

trust me i had like 5 wedding coordinators between the time we booked our wedding to the time we got there,  my husband and i thought it sounded "fishy" and kinda ridiculous. but once we got there and worked with alex which was the #4 coordinator (who i highly recommend using) they keep  everything in a file for you and they send you a checklist before you leave.  i printed every email and made my own checklist, just so there was no miscommunication,

let me know if you have any questions, i still have all my catalogs that nayeli sent me if you need any of them, let me know!

Thank you Kim, and congratulations!  This is great feedback.  I'd love to hear how you ceremony goes.  It is also good to hear that as the date approaches we will have more contac with the coordinators.  I am planning to email on the very day that we are three months out to start getting thing secured and planned.

Have a wonderful time in Mexico

Hey Ladies,

I have a question for past brides at EPM that DID NOT hire a dj but rented the sound system from the resort.

1. What all does it include?

2. Where did you have your reception and was it loud enough?

3. Was there anything that you had to bring with you or felt like you needed to go with the sound system?

One of our guests is a professional dj and has offered to dj our wedding as a gift to us. Since he's staying the 3 nights as a guest, we won't have to pay an outside vendor fee for him and he dj's from his laptop but I just want to make sure we'll have what we need.

Thanks for your help!

Kim good luck with your wedding next week! I pray everything goes perfectly for you! Can't wait to see pictures!

Lynn,

We did not hire a dj, but instead brought our own BOSE system with a remote control, and it was perfect for Spice Terrace.

Sorry I don't know about the sound system EPM has, but nice of your friend to dj for you.

Hey Jass7,

We're planning to have our reception at CECO Terrace. Do you think that would work for that area as well? How did you get your system down there and how large is it? Did you just plug your ipod into it? When you say you brought your BOSE system, what components exactly did you bring? Sorry to sound so dense! :-)

Lynn,

How many guests are you going to have? I think that Bose SoundDock could very well work in that area. What we got is this: http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Bose%26%23174%3B+-+SoundDock%26%23174%3B+Portable+Digital+Music+System+for+Apple%26%23174%3B+iPod%26%23174%3B+-+Black/8509438.p;jsessionid=DE98F08E023D2FB1265792154136C89D.bbolsp-app02-15?id=1186005749503&skuId=8509438&st=bose sounddock&cp=1&lp=3

And the volume can be set to really loud, and still great quality. Try it out at Best Buy, that's where we got ours from. We didn't have it set to the max at Spice, and it felt like a DJ was in the house! Our Bose system just included a sound dock that you attach an ipod/iphone to it. This particular sound dock also has 8 hour lithium battery that you can charge up and not worry about the wires, and can set it anywhere. We had ours set at one table and dance was at the total other side. We really do not regret not going with DJ, but I do regret not having more time to dance. That damn Michael Jackson show! =D

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
