@FUNKYDOLL ..  is there anyway you can email me the sample of the music that Cecillia sent you? [email protected]

I of course can ask her myself, but my wedding is several months away, and she seems to take her time to respond... which is totally fine, but would love to hear the options now if possible!!

Thanks!

That's great you got a sample!  Could you send it to me too?  [email protected]  We were leaning towards the Mexican trio too, but I'd love to hear both options.  Thanks!!

Hi girls!! I am only 7 weeks away from our wedding and Im getting soo excited!! I am doing the ultimate pkg for 25 guests and I just started reading the menus and even though I know Maroma is supposed to have amazing food I REALLY don't like the sounds of the menus!! Has anyone put there own menu together? I know Valeria said I can customize from all 3 menus but some things sound so weird like turkey over apples?? That sounds like food for an 8 yr old! haha HELP

Hi ladies,

Sorry I've been MIA since I've been back from Playa.  Our trip went great! I apologize if this might get long.

We arrived on Thursday, as soon as we landed, grabbed the bus, and headed for the hotel(Hotel Cielo in Playa Del Carmen) we only had an hour to spare until we meant with Laura from Premium Flores. She was super sweet!  I was wanting to get another Florist opinion and pricing before deciding on using all of Secrets florists pricing.  She told me really I needed to find out which kind of flowers were included in the package (Secrets Ultimate) before comparing to her pricing.  I had already been in contact with Laura and had an e-mail  with different pics and pricing info.  FYI- with the secrets ultimate package you get the bridal bouquet, the groom boutonniere, 2 extra boutonniere's and 2 corsages.  So on top of the package deal I also need 5 additional boutonniere's (4 groomsmen+step dad) and 2 extra corsages( step mom+ my grandma) and 4 bridesmaids bouquets. Also I'm looking at flowers to decorate the wedding arch for the beach ( not sure if that's what its called lol), also rose petals for isle. Oh and approximately 3-4 extra centerpieces.( we get our table included in the ultimate package)  So basically I need to add up how much all that extras will be and see if its worth using an outside florists.  Remember you still have to add an extra $100 vendor fee. So I'll let y'all know what I decide to do about the florist.

That night I had my trial with Adrian from Styling Trio Riviera Maya.  I met them at their place and they were super nice! I'm glad I decided to do the trial cause my hair came out that night about 3 hours later. Also I would like to change some of my makeup.  Here are some pics:

OK the next day we left for Secrets Maroma! We met Cecilia in the lobby.  She is so nice.  We went over our contract and pricing.  She has a HUGE book that you can look at that has every picture that you would ever want to look at regarding all the wedding stuff.  I told her I would like lilies and roses and told her my colors.  She said it should be no problem. We decided to add an extra hour for our reception. Three hours she said was going to fly by and would leave little time for dancing.  We also added cold fireworks from the DJ, and Package 3 from the fireworks package for later on that night.  I had wanted to do the sky lanterns, but she said that wasn't allowed so we chose to do fireworks instead.  We went over the bonfire set up, and chose to do 2 hours with cocktail service. With the chair/cushions for our guests to sit on.  I asked about bringing my own Chinese paper lanterns, but she said we would have to bring the wires, and poles, since they have an outside company come in and set this up.  So we decided to add 20 Chinese paper lanterns.  I think it will look so pretty to the pool gazebo.  Here are some pics that we took of some of the flower examples we liked

We then went to have our food tasting.  We had our on private room in the world cafe restaurant.  I had email her ahead of time and told her which item from the gold and silver menu I would like to try. All I can say is whatever you decided on your guests are going to be stuffed! It was all wonderful! Both menus were so good, and it was often hard to choose one.  We also did a cake tasting.  We ended up choosing tres leches.  It was very hard, because neither one of us like tres leches. But for some reason their tres leches tasted like vanilla and visa versa, we even got Cecilia to come taste the cake because we were scared we were confused with the flavors, but she said it was tres leches.  So I guess that means we like tres leches, but only in Mexico lol. We also told her we didn't like the fondant. We felt like it totally took away from the flavor of the cake, she said no problem we can change it to butter cream icing.  YUM!!!  BTW besides the food, the service was awesome!! Before we even got going we had drinks in our hands, and they were carrying our bags for us into the restaurant.  Our own private room with our cute little table and flower centerpiece was such a nice touch!  We had two personal waiters and were so nice and funny, and informative.  They insisted on bringing us two bottles of wine, even though we told them we don't even drink wine.  Both bottles were really good, and with the wine, and the cocktail before, I was tipsy by the time we were done with our food lol!

Cecilia met back with us after we were done with our food, and said if we didn't have any more questions that we were free to enjoy the hotel! It was very cloudy that day, and very windy, so there weren't that many people out in the water.  We headed straight for the beach and it is so beautiful.  We didn't even change into our bathing suits, we just layed out and enjoyed to view, we both actually fell asleep for about and hour! We then walked south of the beach, cause I wanted to go see the abandoned hacienda I've heard so much about. It was so cute, and the architecture is amazing.  It was very exciting to know the next time I'll be there I'll be married!!

We pretty much just walked around and enjoyed the hotel. We looked at the gym, the theater, the shops, and peeked into Desires nightclub.

Sorry that it took so long to write this review. We had a wonderful time, and I feel much better about everything. I've stopped stressing about flowers and such, because I know when I make my decision they are going to be beautiful.  I would highly recommend a site visit, for just peace of mind, even though I think everything will be taken care of when you get down there. The hotel is beautiful and beach is spectacular the service is wonderful and the people are very friendly. So I think we did a great job of picking this hotel, and couldn't be happier.

Ask away if you have any questions!

Wow!  Thank you so much for sharing.  You look so pretty with your hair done & veil on... I'm so glad that you feel more at ease with all of your decisions.  We will also being a site visit in July for our November wedding.  That is so great how well they took care of you even though it was just a visit.  My mind is blank right now so I can't think of anything to ask!  I'm looking forward to your responses to the other ladies here... I am sure they will have plenty of questions.  Thanks again & Congrats!  I am getting excited for all of us SMB brides & our upcoming weddings... so exciting woot.gif

Thank you very much for your review!!

I have some extra questions:

Have you seen any ceremony during your stay?

How much do the hair and make up trial cost?

Do they have a book with pictures? I'm not sure about what I would like ...

Which photographer have you taken?

Thank you!!

Thanks so much for sharing with all of us!  It's such a help.  I love that old mansion.  I hope we can get some pictures there. How much do they charge to entend the reception an hour?  We might want to consider that.  Thanks again!

@ckrn, thank you soooooo much for the review and pictures.  You look wonderful and I'm glad you had such a great experience to put your mind at ease.  We are definitely going to check out Laura at Premium Flores.  We've seen her work in other forums and they look great.  I agree that we'll also have to look at the pricing to see if it is worth it after the vendor fee.  We've also read about Maya Diseno Floral and the owner, Marvin.  Have any of you ladies looked into Maya Diseno as well?  Any experience or opinions?

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
