  3. As request, here are some pic of the wedding details i used. Enjoy My bouquet/four matching bamboo arragements + parasols: : Wedding Favors - Shot Glass DIY - Wedding Timeline (for all guests)
  4. Hello msop04!! Please see my answers below... Ceremony Location: 3pm Beach New Canopy (I requested to setup at the old canopy on the contract, not sure why I ended up at the new one… but it worked out fine) This is the location we chose for our 3 pm ceremony -- it looks so beautiful! Good choice.... pictures will definately turn out amazingly with the ocean backdrop Cocktail Hour: on the beach (with the Mexican band) We chose to have our Cocktail Hour on the beach as well... Did you find that the sand and/or heat was a problem? I had read that it was just too windy and hot on the beach, and had thought about changing it to the Gazebo (where our dinner reception will be held). Not sure hows the weather will like in March. Best advise is to book cocktail hour on the beach first, you can always change to gazebo (or other location) when u arrived there. Cecilia will meet with you when you arrive, go through the details and show you all the sites/location. Then u can make your final decision Also, would you recommend the Mexican Band over the Caribbean Band? I believe we have the Caribbean Band in the contract now... i've picked the Mexican Band. It's all come to your personal perference, u should ask Cecilia to send you sample clips for both bands. Reception Location: 6:30pm at Pool Side Gazebo (Rain started at six... *sigh* had to moved everything inside to the private room inside The World Café. Dinner started at 7pm, was impressed the last min change workout quickly and smoothly!!) Wow! We chose all of the same locations! I love the gazebo area... you should secure the ceremony and reception location first.... Gazebo area is a very popular location. Sound System for Ceremony. (Awesome suggestion from the blog, waves on the beach can be loud. If you have a bigger group, you might want to invest the sound system so that everyone can hear the wedding administrator and the music during the ceremony) We have the sound system for the ceremony as well. Did the technician do a good job on each song transition or did he/she just "press play" and let it go from there? I am very nervous about this, as we will not have a rehearsal. i grouped the songs in different folder on my ipod so that the technician know what and when to play the song. For example, PRelude Procession Bride Entrance Interlude Recessional Don't worry too much..... he does this thousand times and he's pretty good at it. We did a LOT of flower upgrades through Maya Floral (they were MUCH less expensive than Planner1Events), including flowers and draping for the whole ceremony canopy -- we found a photo of another wedding they had done using a similar canopy structure and just had them give us a quote to duplicate it. I hope it turns out great -- fingers crossed!! My advise is to make all the arrangement details state on your contract, better in picture. We are flying our photographer down to SMB from Tennessee (my home state), so I really hope that will be worth it! Also, will we be able to get inside the abandoned mansion since our wedding is on a Friday afternoon? I have read conflicting information regarding this... It's good that you have someone that you trust to do your photos.. i'm sure it will worth it. There was no one guarding at the abandoned mansion and we had no problem getting in and took picture (my wedding was on a Sunday) Since we will only have 14 people (including us), we decided to buy a Jawbone Big Jambox to use for music/speakers for the Welcome Bonfire and the Dinner Reception. <---- this will be more like a "dinner" than a reception, because we will be having a HUGE reception at home a few weeks after we return... i'm sure it will work.... just make sure you have all your fav songs on your ipod Cool Firework… LOVE LOVE the firework at our reception entrance <---- this looks so cool, I wish we could spring for it!! Added two Lightings for tables. Did you find that there was not enough light at your reception? I am thinking ours will not last as long as most others, since we are really just having dinner, dancing a little bit, and taking photos... there are enough lightings at the reception area.... the two lightings under the table we used were just for decoration. Reception Table Name tags (Silver luggage Name Tags) <---- I am interested to know where you got these. Would you post a photo of them -- they sound so cute!! and Wedding Favors (Bought from online store) The Silver Luggage Name Tags were from Michaels. 10 pcs per box Happy Planning!!
  5. hello there... i had total 20 guest and had rectangle table setting. I've brought in 5 table runners, 3 combined to run across the longest side and two run across horizontally. I'm not sure how many ppl can fit for the round table, but i'm sure a regular table runner should fit across any round table. The open bar was included in my Platinum/Gold wedding package, which includes up to 20 guests. Hope the information would help
  6. Cecila was off on Sunday Dec 16 while i was there... maybe she's still on vacation. Keep email her (with no attachement on your email), i lost connection with her during my planning stage and she finally got back to me say'n that my emails were in her Spam folder. If you still couldn't get a hold of her, try the other wedding co-ordinator Valeria Burgos
  7. Videographer (included in the Gold Pkg) - Received the DVD on the forth day after the wedding, they've done a amazing job! B&G Photo Shoot – Abandon Mansion. It was a short five min walk to there, but it was a work-out dragging a long wedding gown and walkthrough the little bushes. oooh well... don't be scared of my little comment..... seriously IT ALL WORTH IT! I bet those pictures will turn out amazing J Also becos of the photo shoot, we totally missed out the cocktail hour. Good comments about the food and the Mexican Band. Barefoot or sandals? I’m 5’4 and my husband is 6’3…… I was wearing my wedge sandals walking down the wooden path, but it became hard to walk on the sand with the long dress. So I slipped them off while I was halfway down and gone barefoot! If I had a chance to do it again… I would have my wedge sandal sitting at the canopy and slip them on when I take pictures. Picture PICTURE PICTURE! My photographers will deliver the pictures within 6-8 weeks. Yeah… the wait is torturing me I need to gather all the pictures from my friends and family, will share with you when I get a hold of them!! So… all SM brides… feel free to contact me if you have any questions. HAPPY PLANNING!!
  8. First I would like to THANK YOU all the ladies on this blog who had posted so much useful information. Now is my turn to share my experience at SMB. LOVE the resort, GOOD service, GOOD food, people are friendly. Wedding Day Experience: A+. Eventhough there were few hiccups here and there... you know what: “It’s my day… and I should enjoy to the MAX!!!†Wedding Details: Arrival Date: Thursday Dec 6 Wedding Date: Sunday Dec 9 Wedding Co-coordinator: Cecilia Meeting with wedding c-coordinator: Friday Dec 7 at Noon # of Guest: 20 Wedding Package: Gold Wedding Locations: I know it’s hard to decide the locations when you haven’t been to the site. I do believe you had seen pictures for different location form Cecilia or even on this blog, GO WITH YOUR GUTS and pick the first choice you have in mind! When you have your first meeting with the coordinator, she will show you all the sites and you can finalize all the details with her <My Choices> Ceremony Location: 3pm Beach New Canopy (I requested to setup at the old canopy on the contract, not sure why I ended up at the new one… but it worked out fine) Cocktail Hour: on the beach (with the Mexican band) Reception Location: 6:30pm at Pool Side Gazebo (Rain started at six... *sigh* had to moved everything inside to the private room inside The World Café. Dinner started at 7pm, was impressed the last min change workout quickly and smoothly!!) Makeup & Hair Service at the Spa: what a great job my Makeup artist did! (I didn’t do trail run, just brought a picture of the hair style and makeup style and both turn out really really Great!!) They used MAC products and the makeup lasted for the whole day Foundation perfectly match my skin tone Strongly recommend half-do or up-do. I have long hair and always prefer with my hair down, but I took the advices from my photographers and the makeup artist to have my hair all up and not regretting it. It could be a little bit windy on the beach and you don’t want your hair all over your face on every picture!! Extra Upgrades: Sound System for Ceremony. (Awesome suggestion from the blog, waves on the beach can be loud. If you have a bigger group, you might want to invest the sound system so that everyone can hear the wedding administrator and the music during the ceremony) Flowers upgrades, including 4 bamboo flower arrangements along the ceremony isles. (I was very disappointed that my bouquet and bamboo flowers turned out to be totally different than we agreed with the florist. We even had the emails and pictures of the flowers on the contract. The flowers are nice but not what I expected and paid for) After all, I still think that it’s a good upgrade, good decoration and turned out great on pictures!!! Hired outside photographer (8hrs service) – Citlalli Rico. Had a great experience with Citalli and her assistant Tamara… can’t wait to see my wedding pictures!!! (Instead of going for the package photographer, we’ve hired someone outside. There were $100/pp charge for the resort day pass) 3hrs DJ. (we subsidized the photos hours by 3hrs DJ time, extra charge also applied) Cool Firework… LOVE LOVE the firework at our reception entrance J Added two Lightings for tables Dinner Menu Upgrade – Platinum Dinner Menu. Other little things…… Parasols, hand fans, bubbles, Wedding Timeline (DIY) for the Ceremony Reception Table Runners to add some color accents (Bought from an online store) Reception Table Name tags (Silver luggage Name Tags) and Wedding Favors (Bought from online store) Bride and Groom Chair Signs (DIY) Table Seating Plan for the Wedding Co-ordinator and the DJ Group Picture Name List (it helps to speed up the Group picture section and have more time for the B&G to take their own pictures) Ceremony Songs: Very upbeat and urban Instrumental Music from “Vitamin String Quartet†and “The Piano Guysâ€. Bride Entrance: Lucky (Vitamin String Quartet) Interlude: Say Yes (Vitamin String Quartet) Sand Ceremony: I’m yours (Vitamin String Quartet) Recessional: Canon in D / Rockelbel's Canon (The Piano Guys) P.S. During my 10 days stay at SMB, everyday has at least one wedding going on. I can imagine how busy are the two wedding coordinators would be from answering emails, to physically setup and run-down the real weddings. I was very frustrated when I first tried to book my wedding date a year ago and I was surprised at the time I couldn’t get the “dates†I wanted, and ended up having a Sunday wedding and have to pay for extra $100. SO…. All future brides, contact your coordinator and secure your DATE, WEDDING LOCATION, RECEPTION LOCATION ASAP!! All other details will come into place … don’t stress yourself out!! I know your wedding will work out beautifully like mine! XOXO - Funkydoll
  9. HI Jen.. thanks for the useful info. I'm worrying about the weather condition as well since my wedding is this sunday. -Funkydoll
  10. Hi Jen... sounds like you are ready to go and your wedding will be awesome!! I will be arriving the resort on your wedding day Thursday Dec 6...Hope to see you there Have fun on your BIG DAY!! - Funkydoll
  11. I can't thank you enough for the quick responses from the ladies!!! More questions from me... Anyone had purchased/seen the "COOL FIREWORK"? it's optional for $280.50, not sure how long would it last or if it worth the price... Lighting at the Gazebo area. Not sure if there's enough light for dinner reception there? "Lightings for tables is $40 each"... anyone had done that... please send me picture for reference or my another option is "Pole with 12 white round lamps" for $200 (lpls send me picture if you had this b4) Cocktail hours will be on the beach... do you know if there will be seating provided on the site? thanks.....funkydoll
  12. wow... i can't beleive my wedding is coming in two weeks! I thought i'm prepared.. but actually not quite yet!! Need some advices from the "experienced" SM brides... Beach Ceremony - Sound System Service. All i need is download some music on my ipod.. and they have a ipod dock for it? How many songs i need before the ceremony start? I'm debating to upgrade my dinner menu to Platinum... not sure if the resort will charge you for menu tasting? Thanks in advance for those who have an answers for these... I might have more questions later..... ;p -Funkydoll
  13. Question: Dinner Menu For the Silver/Gold dinner menu, there are three different choices on each course. I'm just wondering if all the guests can select diff combination on the reception night? or Bride and Groom have to pre-select one from each course? Do you know if i can mix it with two main course (for example, 10 suft and turf and 10 chicken)? thanks....
