Thanks, Manda!  Really appreciate it =)

I got a quote from Manna (sp?) for just under $1000.

DJ bob was $650 for 4 hours (dinner & drinks)

And $475 for just (drinks & dance) 2 hours

He brings lights, and a microphone. Also he will be the MC.

Stephy I would be freaking out about the pictures. I don't get why you don't have even a online gallery yet. I'm getting pictures done by her too. Hopefully she gets everything together soon!

I booked DJ bob, Decided the costs were not too bad since we have about 55 people making the trip. =)

It is clearly written in our contract that are pictures are to be delivered 6-8 weeks after the wedding day. (online gallery AND our picture DVD and photobook)

Stephy when you emailed her what did she say? I think you should be getting atleast a discount on the package you paid for or a extra photobook or something!

Why exactly do you think I should be getting a discount? The contract says 6 to 8 weeks and it's only been 7 weeks. She said she's been extremely busy with shooting weddings almost every day. She had all of our pictures edited and received a newer version of Photoshop and decided to re-edit all of our pictures with the new effects. She's suppose to send up the first batch of pictures early this week and will send the pictures with the new edits later on. Plus, we booked her for 9 hours and did a TTD that lasted 4 hours... She has a ton of pictures to go through. I wasn't expecting to get my pictures right away anyways.

I know Steph said that she thinks you'd be okay, but I don't think it'd be that great of a setup if you did it at the garden gazebo.  The beach gazebo would be setup much better for the amount of people you have going.  Also like Steph said, you do have the option of any location because they do one wedding at a time.

Steph, I hope you get them soon!  If it says 6-8 weeks, and it's only week 7, there isn't anything you can do...but wait.  Claudia is in such demand that she is always busy, so it's just a waiting game...as hard as that is...  =(

For those who haven't booked a DJ yet, if you or your FI are tech-savvy, doing it with an iPod is a great option...  I'm not that tech savvy, and I did it all by myself for our 4 hour reception...  Because it turned out so well, we are doing the same thing for our AHR, just to cut costs (and allow more money to be spent on other things)!!

I agree with EllaBaja, altought I booked DJ Mannia for our reception, using the iPod seems very easy and lots of brides do it.

EllaBaja, did you have anyone MC your wedding?  Most DJs will MC as well.

We didn't have anyone picked out for the MC.  It actually wasn't something I had ever heard of until seeing it on here, which I'm thankful for because with Erika asked who our MC was, DH didn't know what she was talking about.  We ended up having the bestman do it, and then he actually rolled right into his toast!

I couldn't imagine paying for a DJ, especially $1k's... (no offense to anyone that has) but I could see doing it when they have the whole setup right there and you can do individual playlists on the iPod and then put it on shuffle.  We had three different playlists.  We had the ceremony, dinner, and dance...and just put them on shuffle.  If there was a song that no one was really feeling during the dancing part we either used it as our break, or I went up and pushed it to the next song.

I'll give my input as a bride who hired a DJ. Look at us arguing, Ellabaja ;) Also no offense to everyone who didn't hire a DJ. For my part, I really didn't want to have to worry about doing anything our reception. I didn't want to stress on a playlist and I didn't want to assign any of our guest to man the ipod either. 1000$ can seem like a lot but to us, it was all worth it. Our DJ brought a nice energy to the reception, the music was great, they provided dry fireworks, they also installed some great lights and spotlights which helped set the mood and gave a nice glow to the room and they brought out balloons for our guests to play with when the party started. All in all, I think the DJ made the night even more fun! That's it for my two cents on the topic :)

    • Hello would-be-brides! I'm Gaurav, and I've been shooting weddings for over 5 years for my wedding photography business - I Don't Say Cheese. I specialize in candid photography and take great pleasure capturing the story and the essence of love that couples share. I've been shooting around India and have done many destination weddings. However, I would LOVE to cover some international weddings and build my portfolio. It doesn't hurt that I absolutely adore traveling! Back home I charge $3500 for a day's shoot but I'm offering my services for FREE for a chance to shoot your wedding.  You can see my work on my website and on my instagram page. I'd love to discuss the possibilities with you so feel free to reply here or contact me through the website/instagram. You can see a sample set of a wedding I recently shot in Kerela, India here. Wishing you lots of love and luck for your big day!
    • I'm looking to see if anyone has had a wedding at Dreams Riviera Cancun or any other resorts in Cancun with around 60 guests and could let me know how much they paid TOTAL for the ceremony, cocktail, and dinner reception. This includes flowers, decor, makeup hair, DJ, and all misc.  Thank you!
    • Hello Everyone, I am new here, I heard about this site from a friend of mine that had a destination wedding back in 2012 which was beautiful.  I am leaning towards the DR if I find a place that has all that I am looking for if not Mexico is another great option. Thinking of May 2020 if that is enough time to plan this! I like modern looks, all inclusive for sure.  I definitely want the beach very very close to the pools and rooms, a swim up bar is a must.  I really like the idea of the swim ups in the rooms if possible.  I am going to have friends that bring their kids so it can't be adult only.  I do want to get married on the beach which seems like most of the all inclusive resorts offer. My friend got married at the SENSATORI AZUL BEACH RESORT RIVIERA MAYA and it had all I would want in a resort if anyone has stayed there and has any advice. Thanks for all the help ahead of time.   M&B
