As far as the dinner, plated vs. buffet, even though you had more than 40 people you could have had it plated?
Sorry my answer was confusing. You're right she only gave us the buffet option.

The gazebo/barracuda bar are the windest areas at dreams. I think there is always a breeze at least. For us Wednesday and Thursday were super windy (I couldn't have worn a veil) but luckily Friday and Saturday (wedding) were like half as windy and my veil stayed on. It is a windy time of year. However it's nice because the resort is not overflowing with kids (because schools in) and it isn't super duper hot yet. It rained Sunday evening very hard and sprinkled Monday evening. Since I was afraid of the wind and heat, Josh and I had a "first look" moment with the photog in the garden by the adult pool prior to going to the gazebo to get wind blown. Hope that helps.

Thanks Tifuhhknee and nairay! I want to give back a little of what BDW gave to me! Congrats on being DPA brides. You are going to love it!

Ok thanks! I really don't want more than 40 for many reasons this is one of them now. I don't know what I want for the meal just yet but I don't want the decision made for me by my count!

I remember being really concerned about how many guests we were inviting because we didn't want to wind up having issues with our reception options. In the end we'd invited about 60 people in total and wound up with 33 so we were lucky to be under the 40 limit because our meal was AMAZING! We had lots of compliments all around about the food so it's definitely worth it!

What did you choose for the meal? I asked Jacy for more menu options but what she sent me doesn't seem like what I've read other's have had on here.

The menu I had included about 6-7 set meal options that each had some type of soup, salad, main course and dessert. We did a little bit of mix & match between a couple and wound up with Minestrone soup, Caprese salad (my absolute favourite!!!), Beef Medallions (which were amazing tasting steaks which is saying a lot coming from a group of folks who are used to Alberta Beef!!) and Brownies for dessert (which are totally NOT your cookie pan, bake sale kind.... these things were DIVINE!!).

I'm unable to attach items because of my work filters but PM your email to me and I can send it as an attachment for you that way.

I'm totally confused now! I just went back to the wedding packages and none of that food was on there. I think you payed the private function fee, right? So you get different choices when you pay the private function fee? 6-7 set meal options, mix + match....sounds better. If it's not against forum rules (where it's specific hotel info) can you send it to me as well? Or attach it here, I'm almost at member status?

Haha okay I can totally see the confusion!! We'd chosen the basic wedding package so our reception meal was not included and we had to pay for it separately (ie. it wasn't the Gold or Silver menu option). You can ask Jacy for the menu in case they've made any editions since I'd chosen our meal, but I've added the one I have here. I think our options were in the range of $25-35USD per person (plus taxes). Hope that clears things up a bit!!

That sounds like what she sent me. I was just confused because it didn't have any prices. Since we will have more than 20 guests I was hoping to find something a bit cheaper so we won't have as large of a bill. If the price is still the same and its only $24-35 a person, then that will be a good savings. Every little bit helps!

So now I'm shoe shopping and I could use some advice from all of you who were married here. I really want to get some super cute heels because I'm short and I love high heels, but I'm worried I won't be able to walk on the sand.
Has anyone else tried to were heels for their wedding with any success?
I've read the aisle to the gazebo is where the volley ball court is usually set up and the sand should be pretty packed. Plus I'll have the carpet, so I'm hoping I won't fall on my face in the little bit of sand I will have to walk through.
