Flowers

So I took a little hiatus from planning the last few months. All the big things were done ages ago, and then we bought a house, and I got distracted. Now suddenly I woke up one day last week and realized that it was 2 and a half months until the wedding, and I had left some things (like flowers!) until a little later than I had originally planned smile35.gif

I had my heart set on plumeria (all white for my bouquet and all pink for the girls). However, I had never bothered to ask our WC whether they were actually in season in October in Hawaii. I finally got around to that today, at barely more than 2 months until the wedding, and it turns out that they are at the very end of their growing season by the end of September/beginning of October, and the florist says they can't do full bouquets of plumeria. I have been a pretty laid back bride to date, maybe too laid back. It never occurred to me that the flowers I loved might not even be available! This led to me being awake at 3:00am tonight (i.e right now!), WORRYING for the first time since we started planning the wedding.

It all turned out great though, because our WC had actually written me back with suggestions for the bouquets, and I LOVE them!!! We're going to do white cymbidium orchids, white dendrodium orchids and white tuberose for my bouquet and pink plumeria, pink cymbidiums and pink ginger florets for the bridesmaids. After I looked up pics of all those flowers (ha ha), I found that I love these bouquets even more than I thought I would love all plumeria. I'm also really happy that we're still getting the colours I wanted and having all local flowers, which was really important to me. Yay!!! smile159.gif

For those who are as uninformed as I am when it comes to flowers, here's pics of the flowers they're using for my bouquet:

I agreed...your flowers will look totally awesome. Don't worry so much because everything will come together.

Are you getting a convertible? It would look so nice after the wedding with the top down although they are $$. Convertibles are expensive but cheaper via Hotwire.com at around $45 a day.

Totally ask for the Ivory convertible PT cruiser! I saw a wedding couple last year in Maui with the Ivory PT crusier and they looked so good in it. I must have it for the drive to Hana after my wedding!

Thanks for the tip! I'm definitely going to look into renting a car like that for after the wedding! I was really concerned about my hair getting all messed up in a convertible, but the ceremony is at the hotel where I'm getting ready, so I won't even have to drive there, and after the ceremony, who cares, right? I'll just get them to hairspray the heck out of it!!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
