The new Dreams Tulum thread! (Post all DT Qs&As here)

Recommended Posts

Hey so I've read a lot of mixed reviews on the makeup application that they offer in dreams... has any bride on here had the makeup applied and was 100% happy with it?

My other question is that I know before it seemed like they offered the speakers and microphone for free for the ceremony... and only charged if you wanted the speakers for your reception.... are they now charging to have speakers and mic for the ceremony toohuh.gif how much?

I forgot to mention one favor.... I know a lot of brides will be having their weddings soon and I know that you girls have other things on your mind during your actual wedding (like enjoying yourselves!) but it would be a HUGE favor to all the brides that are considering to have resort photogs.. to maybe get a couple of names especially the really good one and ones that really suck from the brides that are using the resort photogs in future!

I know I have seen at least 3 brides on this forum that had amazing pics taken by resort photogs and 2 were recent, but there were some brides that stated in their review that the pics were AWEFUL..

So far we have one name provided to us by BC Bride2be his name was Philimino sp?

And Amesharps photographer was pretty awesome too... we don;t have a name but he wore a headband the entire time...

and Tremendous thanx in advance to all the brides that can get some more info for ussmile03.gif

I just found out that I will be having an unexpected guest at the wedding. We just found out we're pregnant, so I guess I will have a (little or mabe rather large) baby bump in my wedding dress!

I don't know if I've ever read anyone who was happy with their makeup, I think most were unhappy. Keep in mind that most past brides aren't around anymore, so you may have to dig around the reviews for more info on that.

Yes they now charge for the ceremony too. I think that started around the time the new guide came out

That is a good point, it would be usefull if people wrote in their reviews their photographer's name. But something else to keep in mind is that some brides are happy with a certain photographer and tell you they love their photos, and somebody else using the exact same photographer and same photos won't be happy. It's such a thing of personal opionion. Seeing as their seems to be so many mixed opinions on the subject, if I were you I would focus on the photos brides have posted and decide for yourself if you think they are good rather than how that bride feels about her photos. This is why it's so so important that brides who use the resort photographer post their photos, seeing as unlike with other photographers, there is no other way to see his work (i.e. website, talking to brides from other resort etc).

Sunbride I totally agree with you about the type of photos a bride likes is a matter of personal opinion, but we actually have so many brides that have used the resort photographers and have posted their pics on-line but didn't know what the photographers name was... and there is no way to track that person down just by knowing what their pics look like.

I guess I'm writing so much about this because for the past month I've just been so stressed about trying to decide if I should just use the resort photog or hire someone outside.... we are on such a limited budget but pictures of our wedding are definately one of the most important things because 20 years down the road that's what you'll be looking back on..... why can't this stuff just be easy..

In my opinion (and this is totally my opinion) most of the pictures I have seen of the resort photographer are pretty much the same, regardless of which actual photographer was used.

The second thing is that you may not have control over which photographer you get, it may depend on who is working that day. You could try to get a specific one but it may not work.

I still agree it's a good idea to get more info about the different resort photographer's (know the difference between them and associate people's photos with a specific photographer) but I guess what I am trying to say is that if you are not totally happy with the other photos that other people have posted, it's probably best to book an outside photographer rather than hope you get one of the better resort ones and risk being disappointed. But if you are happy with what you see of the other brides photos, than stick to them!

It is a hard decision though, I totally understand that.

Keep in mind that you will have to pay 350$ or whatever it is for the CD with the photographer (plus more for the actual photos if you are using the Wedding in Paradise Package). So if you can manage about 1000$ instead of 350$, you can get one of the cheaper local photographers. Cecelia Dumas is one of the ones that comes to mind that does really nice work but only charges 1000$ for 2 hours including CD.

Alternatively, how about printing out a bunch of inspiration photos to show the photographer. Also, have a friend in charge of photography but making sure that the photographer gets all the group shots that you wanted, and ask them to try to have a critical eye of the poses (for example, I remember Callie mentioning that the photographer always made them look down at him and it gave them a double chin!). I personally would tell him to take the group shots closer-up, as I notice he always takes the group shots from farther away, and I personally think it looks so much nicer if it's a shot that is like from the waist upwards (when possible). And tell him to take several of each group, because you often notice that there are people looking away or blinking in the resort photographer's photos. If you do a bunch of stuff like that it might help ensure you are happy with the resort photographer's results.

    • Hello all!! I'm getting married next week. Every arrangement has been done by my sister for my special day. When I joined in an MNC I was troubled with severe headaches and as per my colleague's instruction, I took an appointment in a nearby eye clinic. And after an eye examination in Toronto, the eye specialist diagnosed hypermetropia in me. And the doctor prescribed eyeglasses for me. The doctor suggested me to wear eyeglasses during the working time. But I used to wear it sometimes not every day. Then I was troubled with severe eye strain and headache and mom was scolding me to wear eyeglasses every day. I thought of saying goodbye to eyeglasses forever. I'm planning for a Lasik eye surgery soon before my marriage. I don't know whether I'm eligible for Lasik eye surgery. I'm tensed about its recovery time and its complications. Can someone help me by sharing your views?
    • In the 2017 bridal fashion week, many styles of wedding dresses were gradually popular. From serious bling to regal capes and fun and flirty short numbers, ByCouturier've got all the hottest wedding dress trends you need to know. Allover Sparkle
Over-the-top sequins, tonal beading and metallic embellishments turned the Bridal Fashion Week runways into a glittery affair. Perfect for evening nuptials under the stars, this trend is daring but sophisticated. Pro tip: If you're rocking a gown with lots of sparkle, keep your accessories minimal and let your glitzy frock do all the talking.  Bold Ball Gowns
If you're looking to make a dramatic entrance, a classic ball gown is for you—and we saw plenty of them. Take a cue from long, lace sleeves, or get glam with an embellished strapless bodice. No matter the details, this voluminous style is sure to turn heads.  Captivating Capes
Not into veils? A full-length bridal cape or shorter capelet is the perfect alternative: It still adds movement to your gown, but feels fashion forward. Plus, this trend is an easy way to pull off a mid-wedding outfit change. Wear a cape or capelet for a more formal look during your ceremony, then whisk it away to hit the dance floor at your reception. Short, Sassy Dresses
Whether you show off your legs (and a killer pair of heels) in an embellished mini or opt for a more conservative midi-length number, a wedding dress with a flirty hemline is a chic way to mix it up. Not willing to give up your dream ball gown? Change into a shorter frock to spice up your reception or after-party.  Plunging Necklines
The deep V-neckline is a must-try for two reasons: It flatters your upper body (even if you're busty!) and elongates your frame. A plunging V with scalloped lace is ultra-feminine, while a sleek V plays up the inherently sexy vibe of a curve-skimming silhouette. Just make sure you have fashion tape handy the day of to avoid any wardrobe malfunctions.
      Skinny Straps
We love this trend for two reasons: A gown with barely there straps has all of the sex appeal of a strapless neckline, plus added support. We call that a bridal fashion win.
    • Hello all,
I am here to get some suggestions on the best places to go on a honeymoon. I am getting married by the end of next month.
I was thinking of Bali or Maldives. But just wanted to know other beautiful and romantic places. The wedding banquet hall is a gift from our parents. The hall they have booked for us is one of the best banquet halls in Vaughan I’ve ever seen... Other arrangements like the videographer, photographer, wedding dress, reception dress are all finalized. The next week we have the pre-wedding shoot. Also, I'll start sending the invitations the same week. So, it is going to be hectic and I don't have time to rest or look for some nice places. So, if anyone here could suggest some places would be a great help.
      Let me know your suggestions.
      Thanks in advance!
