Hello! Hope everyone's planning is going well. For the cocktail hour would you recommend la habana or the lyrico bar? I looked back at past posts but didn't find any information on them. I have no idea what the difference is. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated! I have 24 guests that will be attending.

Hi Everyone,

I see it was mentioned that La Habana can be rented out, what is the fee for this and do they restrict the time allowed to rent it out?

I go through highs and lows about stressing about the details, as I'm sure we all do!  Sometimes I go into freak mode about the timing, the decorations, how to keep my people happy and entertained, but other times I remember a wedding I attended in Jamaica that had no fancy details and it was Amazing!  Everyone that will be attending is my closest friends and family, so just having this time together will be enough, I thinksad.gif, I hope, lol.

It worries me to hear there is yet another coordinator, but again, it's a done deal at this point so to he** with it!

Couple questions for the upcoming brides:

Have any of you requested your attendees to be in the same section of the resort and can they accomodate this?

Can you request to be on the side of the gazebo if you are being married there?

Who's getting married prior to departing (to avoid all the mx rules and regulations) and are you wearing white to the court house?

Anyone brining their own ipod docking station to play music and have you heard any restrictions (besides dinner which i'm pretty sure they do not allow).

Elissa and Shes, I'm so excited for you both! And I can't express enough how all your comments have helped me immensly!  Thank you for being on this site and sharing all your ideas and thoughts, I am so happy to have this site to ease all my worries and help me figure this whole process out!

Thank you, I will definitely give this a try.

Hi Stephanie - I have been to the resort before.  From what I recall La Habana bar is in the hotel lobby.  It is air conditioned and is very nice.  It's in a big spacious area of the lobby and there are tables that I believe they could reserve for you and segregate your group  a bit.

Here's some pics I had taken of La Habana - the lobby is magnificent.

This is the actual bar.

This is one of the seating areas - behind the waiter you can see the bar.  There are also tables to the right of the bar and to the right of where we were sitting (to right of waiter).

The Lirico Bar is an indoor/outdoor place.  Tne bar is inside, in the main grounds, but they have seating outside on the large patio.  This is where they have their nightly entertainent on the stage there.  Here is an aerial photo I found online.  The building in the back of the photo (with roof) that's the Lirico.  They have large window/doors that open up so you can come out to that patio area and sit there to listem/watch the nightly entertainment.  This is where we are habing our cocktail hour.  Again, I believe they reserve off a section for you.

It's a matter of preference I guess..Quote:

I am unsure if they allow you to "rent out" the La Habana since it is in the main lobby.  Although it doesn't hurt to ask.  I've read that they will reserve a section of the bar for you.

Don't stress.  It will all fall into place!  I was the same way, but now I am in a good happy place.  LOL!  pinkie.gif

Everything will be fine - everyone is there FOR YOU.  They will  be happy and in vacation mode and it will be PARADISE!

Don't worry about another coordinator - I did for like 2 days.  Over nothing.  I finally got some emails from her  (Erika) and she had all my details in check!  Her English was better than Ariadna's.  I mean, they must have a phone book file on me by now!  haha

Our TA, Wendy Hicks requested this for us.

Can you request to be on the side of the gazebo if you are being married there?

We are staying in the 2 story jacuzzi suite,  We requested the suite that overlooks the Gazebo.  I believe it is Room #2046.

Elissa I betcha you're seating at the edge of your seat right about now! eeee, i'm so excited for you & I can't wait to hear all about it. I'll be sitting here waiting ..inpatiently! haha. I hope you enjoy and love every moment of it!! <3 Ours is a little less than 3 weeks away, and I'm getting overly anxious. I'm trying to make sure I have all things. I need to do a "packing" trial. haha, Make sure I won't forget anything! Which I feel so bound to do! Been shopping way too much, that I'm actually getting tired of it. Who ever thought that'd happen! Still need cake topper, welcome bags, songs in order, ect! ahh!

  • 2 weeks later...

Ladies, you have ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to worry about. Erika is TOP NOTCH and my wedding was perfect! She paid attention to every detail I asked for. She's the best wedding coordinator I've dealt with out of the 3 and she and I only started talking the week before my wedding! Her English is fantastic and I must say, she is a busy girl !! There was a wedding like EVERYDAY we were here. I am leaving today and arrived 11 days ago!!!!! Be patient with her. I love her!!!!!

Hi Ladies!

Our wedding was last week and we the prime example of what happens when your beach wedding gets rained out!  We were in Mexico 10 days and it only rained (poured!) one day- the day we got married!  The original plan was to hold the ceremony on the beach and the reception on the beach as well.   The rain plan moved our ceremony to the Don Manolo patio under the over hang and inside Chili's restaurant.  Everything turned out great in the end! I attached some pics so everyone knows the back up plan.... they are not the professional photos, just some shots that my friends took.

As for the experience overall, I agree with Elissa... Erika did a fantastic job as the coordinator and is an excellent communicator. The photographer from Adventure Photos, Sergio, also did a great job capturing the wedding and their photo booth was a HIT with our guests. I was so very happy with the ladies in the spa... they had several pictures of hair options and did a great job with our make up and nails.  My only word of warning is to lock your belongings up the entire time you are there!  Unfortunately my phone was stolen from my suitcase as well as $40... likely by the housekeeping service but I can't confirm it  Entirely my fault for not using the safe for everything!  This was the only downside of the wedding.  Everything else was great!!  The staff was very, very helpful and the resort is in tip top condition.

Best of luck to everyone!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
