Yea Linds,

originally it was $1700 flat for private reception and DJ, but now it's $20 pp for private rec. And extra 1200 for DJ. So, that brings it total 3200 (20*100 ppl= 2000 + DJ) I am budgeting for 100 people to go...

I was told that because my party is so big, I am required to have a private reception, which means I have to pay the 20 pp now without the option of a semi private dinner.

Well Girls the dress fitting didn't go so well. They convinced me to order the wrong size and now the dress is about 2 sizes to big and it is going to cost me $400 to get my alterations done. I felt horrible in the dress in the dress b/c it didn't look anything like what it is supposed to. I know she'll do a good job and get it looking good, but it was very dishearting.

On the upside I got so much stuff accomplished today for the OOT bags and luggage tags.

Oooooo dana, sorry to hear that... :-( Thats not how its supposed to be!!!
Saying that though coz you felt so crap you'll hopefully feel more like a million dollars (like your suposed to) when you get your dress on and its right :-)

Just a shame they wont pay the $400 as it was them who suggested it in the 1st place!!!!!

Great that you sorted your OOT etc, thats good a few things less to think about. xox

Adrienne- that is outrageous IMO, however it will be such an amazing day I can promise you that! I honestly think it is worth every penny!

Jen- sounds like you have the right mindset! That's exactly what we did and I wouldn't have changed a thing about it!

Dana- SO SO SO sorry to hear that your fitting didn't go well! I feel like bridal salons advise people to order bigger to suck them into paying for alterations at their store! I would take it to an offsite tailor. It would probably be cheaper! Atleast you don't have to worry about it being too small, but I would be super upset too!

Dana- that is really too bad! I am sure everything will end up working out great in the end, it just is a major bummer you have to go through all the extra work and extra money to fix what should have been done right in the first place. I don't get bridal shops sometimes and why they always try to convince you to get sizes you know won't work. I had the same issue with a bridesmaid dress for a friends wedding, but luckily it was just a bridesmaids dress.. What are you including in the OOT bags???

Well, I just ordered raffia fans from OTC to attach our wedding programs to. I also am looking into buying some personalized matches and napkins, anyone have a good, reasonably priced website to do this under? I've seen other girls from BDW order from weddingchannel.com but haven't really heard of other good sites. We decided against doing full blown OOT bags, but are instead doing mugs with a welcome letter/packing list that we will give before hand since we will see everyone in November prior to the wedding. My mom had also bought a bunch of good smelling travel candles incase rooms are musty from being in the caribbean (thus why i am doing the matches) and I would also like to get little magnets for the hotel balcony doors for everyone. I am thinking I will give these out along with the mugs prior to leaving for Mexico. I am a little worried about giving everything out before hand, and then people not thinking about bringing the mugs/candles with to Mexico... What do you girls think?

Oh yea other then the fact that I should be seeing everyone in November prior to leaving for Mexico, I decided to give the mugs/travel stuff ahead of time to: 1) avoid all the extra stuff for us to pack, since we will have ceremony stuff, wedding attire, etc., 2) to go with the packing list so people have a good list of what to bring, and 3) because our guests are all arriving on several different days ( majority on Wed. with us, some on Friday, and some on Sat.) ...

Well girls I have had it with dresses!  I lost it last night, my youngest sister does not fit in her dress b/c it is too small. We bought the dress back in december and she fit perfect into the sample size. We picked it up 3 months later in March and when she tried it on she could not zipper it about 5 inches, but I didn't freak b/c she said she was going to lose the weight (and had been working out everyday) and she had 7 months to do it. Well, my other sister is here from California right now and made her try the dress on last night and she can barely get it on! It is so small now that there is no way we could even do anything with alterations. Now we are 2 months out from my wedding and I don't know what to do. My other sister is going to call Alfred Angelo for me today and see if they can get it rushed to us in a month. I'm so mad at her for not being real with me. If she told me a few months ago that she knew she wasn't going to be able to fit in it we could have ordered a new one then. Does anyone else have any other suggestions of options?? I'm so sorry for the vent!

Jen-I wanted to give out things before hand too, but that was also my concern that people wouldn't bring it with them. I'm just going to give all my immediate family members an extra bag to bring down. I think I may go buy really cheap luggage and that way I can just leave it down there when I'm done. I wasn't going to do a full OOT bag, but it just seemed to happen that way. I got bags from Dollar Tree and the acrylic tumbler cups. I decided to do a small first aid bag too, really only decided that this weekend. I had too much wine on Saturday and my intuition was down and I started buying things online..haha. So I will have beach bag, two cups, playing cards, key/tip card holder, motrin, pepto, shout wipes, aloe. I think that is it.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
