This is where I am learning the trade. The woman who runs the site is an instructor. She has a doctorate, but not certain it in genealogy. If you want more info on the group just let me know.
I would be very happy to help you with this project. I love, love, love genealogy! Now that Maggie is married I returned to my passion!

    PS: Congratulations, married lady!
Lizzy I remember reading that you were a genealogist but I couldn't remember if you were still a student or if you had gotten your certificate yet. I was hoping you would see this thread and jump in.

I think stuff like this is so fascinating. I defenitly want to find out more. I would love more info on the group. Would you mind PMing it to me? Thank you so much Lizzy.

Lizzy- where do you get certified for this? I could see my mom wanting to do that. I'm also telling her about the yahoo group. I bet she would love that! She's always calling strangers and talking to them. LOL
      Happily married since 2008

What I did was go to yahoogroups.com, then I chose the group I wanted to join. The group is sensational! Diana Muir is the administrator and the instructor. If you choose to take the classes she will let you know how to access the lessons. Some people take the lessons but never turn in their assignments or take the exam. I am planning on going all the way, My goal is to specialize in Irish and Minnesota genealogy.
Oh, I forgot the best part.........the course is freeeeee!
Let me know if I can help you Glenda. And if anyone else has any questions, I may be able to answer them.
For the dance, at the reception, Maggie wore her crinoline and a lovely lace top. Looks like Tadd likes it!

Are you serious? I may have to check this site out. I love doing geneology. A couple of my Mom's cousins have gone back several generations on my Grandpa's side, we are from Norwegian royalty. Searching online I have found other geneology trees that match up with some of ours, and I have got back as far as abt 590 ac. I have done a bit of work on my Grandma's side too, but haven't gotten as far.

Glenda - you will have to let us know how the DNA thing goes. That is so awesome.

Here is the info for the DNA tests through Ancestry.com

              Maternal Lineage Test (Mitochondrial DNA)

Learn about the ancient ancestry and early human migrations of your maternal line forbearers. For both female and male participants.
              $179
              Female Participants:
If you are interested in exploring your paternal lineage, a DNA sample must be provided by your father, brother, or a male cousin on your father's side. Choose "MALE" for the participant's gender and select a Paternal Lineage test.

I honestly thought that it would cost more than that. Considering what you are getting, I don't think that that is expensive at all!

I've always been interested in geneology, but now that I'm bored at work today, I'm totally into it!! I have so many windows open with all the links provided! I'm thinking of taking this on as a pet project to keep me occupied and I can give it as a gift to my parents (Dad) sometime b/c he's also into this stuff too.
