I honestly can't remember exactly, but I don't think it was bad at all....Maybe around 1,400 total Like I said, we didn't have a DJ, but did rent the sound system and lights which I think was about $300. And then we chose not to upgrade the appetizers, but they were still really good. They also had a private bar set up for us too, and all of the tables draped with the linens, and probably about 15 people working only for us serving cocktails, etc.! It was fantastic.

          Hi,
We are thinking of having our wedding at Playacar Palace (same chain as Aventura Palace)...and I was wondering if anyone has used a Travel Agent that they love and can recommend. I am looking for an agent that has experience booking with the Palace resorts, because for some reason a bunch of agents that I have spoken to so far say they do not like Palace resorts and will not book with them. I have no idea why this would be, except maybe they don't have a contract with them or something - because the Palace resorts get great reviews, and Moon Palace has a ton of weddings so you'd think the Agents would be all over that!?

Ah well...yea, so if anyone can suggest an Agent that would work with someone even if they are not local, that would be great! Fyi...I am 5 min. from Philadelphia, in Collingswood, NJ.
          Thanks!!
          Emily

            Hey Emily,

Our TA is Colin Stout...his website is kokotravel.com. He is a timeshare member of Palace and vacations there all the time with his wife. (When I booked our stay for the Aventura he called me during his vacation at Vallarta Palace!) His prices were pretty good too and you get perks like free massages if you stay a week or more. The only thing is he doesn't do flights, just the hotel stay, but that didn't bother us. I'm surprised there are so many TAs that refuse to book at Palace...it seems like a great chain, there are so many great reviews on tripadvisor and I'm sooo excited to be getting married there!
            Good luck!

rachel- did you hire a photographer?

I am debating on either adventura (which is what my TA recommended as they will allow kids this fall) or Moon Palace. I was about to book with Dreams but they haven't been very easy to communicate with!

Yes! I just hired my photographer a few weeks ago...Misti from "Expressions by Misti"
She is on the forum and was doing a giveaway (I think it is still going on)
We basically just pay to fly her down from Nashville and then 3 nights hotel...so for like $1500 we are getting 10 hours of photography and all the pics on CD...totally reasonable compared to the quotes I had been getting! I am also sharing her with another bride on here who is getting married at the MP a few days after me so we are splitting the cost of airfare...I totally lucked out!

Erin- Congratulations! I am so glad you had a good time and I can't wait for your review! I'm sure I will have tons of questions for you, but I'll wait until you post and see if you answer and of them...I'll try to let you relax a little before I bombard you! Enjoy a few days of newlywed life before I make you crazy :)
