Also, is it ok to have a shower and invite people not invited to the wedding?
First, I personally don't think it's appropriate to invite people to your wedding shower if they aren't invited to the wedding. Whoever is doing the inviting should know better. It sounds like they are asking for gifts.

I would do something at work for her if you and your co workers feel inclined to do so.

Sorry if I'm not any help!

Hi Tara,

I agree with Nikki. Since it's at work, I don't think it's weird at all. I mean, who can or really wants to invite all their co-workers?!? We usually chip in and get a gift from their registry.

I agree with nearly all the girls. Work showers are different IMO. Normal showers are usually thrown by someone close to the bride and they ask her for a list of people. Work showers are just generally one co-worker piping up to the rest of the people that it would be fun to do something, then everyone chips in. The bride really can't help that so it's not like she is looking for gifts- know what I mean?

I would just get her something small- it's the thought that counts. :)

I teach in a school with more than 100 staff members, 85% of whom are women and 75% of those are marrying and babying age. Each year lately there have been at least three baby showers and at least three wedding showers. Just as is done in Lauren's school, we pass around envelopes and everyone throws in $5-$10. Then gifts are bought by each grade level and special area. We all chip in with either breakfast or lunch snacks. We know we're not invited, but it's our way to help our colleague and friend celebrate this special time in her life. We even hold these for the Grooms and new daddies. It's fun.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
