I am looking at Edventure Tours--http://www.edventuretours.com.mx/home/tours.htm. I like it because people can add on with what they want, and it covers ziplines, snorkeling, Tulum ruins, and private transportation.

Or I was also thinking about Xcaret or Xplor. Any thoughts either way on these ideas?
DH and I did Tulum Xtreme. It was small-van transport (no large buses means fewer people to pick up), Tulum for 1.5 hours, zip lining, rappeling, and cenote snorkeling. I think it was $106/pp.

I would NOT recommend this tour!! Tulum was great and the cenote was our favorite part. However, the zip lining and rappeling sucked in our opinions. There were only 3 zip lines, relatively high but not much of a grade so you go kinda slow, and the rappeling was from atop a wooden structure they built. We thought it'd be real rappeling.

Had we to do it over again, we would have gone to Xel-ha. Some of our guests had been there previously and just raved and raved. I'm told to really enjoy Xcaret you need a full day.

Our photog went to Xplor this trip and said it was really cool with a lot of variety.

BTW Renee, if you want really good zip lining, look no further than the Texas hill country! Cypress Valley Canopy Tours. I know this doesn't help you in Mexico but you and FI could come have a lot of fun the next time you're in the area!

Hi Renee, I am using a company that will take us zip lining, snorkeling in cenotes, and visiting the Tulum ruins. They pick us up at the hotels and it includes lunch as well. Its approx 6 hours and costs $93 per person. They are getting us at 9:30am and I think we get back to the hotel around 3pm.

I suggest you use the lady I used - tell her I sent you - Susan Vincil from CancunAndRivieraMaya.com - email is susanincancun@cancunandrivieramaya.com

They use a lot of different tour companies - so all of your ideas she can price out for you. Its so much easier than contacting 3 different vendors yourself.

Or, you could do a trip into Cancun one night or day. Susan lives down in that area so she can give you some other ideas.

Good luck!

I'm doing Selvatica tour Zip Lining that is a zip line into cenote plus round trip transportation and pickup from your hotel for $90pp. I searched the internet and Trip Advisor rated this as the number one thing to do in the area. Also, I've heard a lot of rave reviews about this place from others.

We're doing this just the 2 of us though.

Unfortunately, it rained and rained and rained our first 3 days there. Not just sprinkles or mist but full on side-blowing rain. We had to cancel the sailing trip (no worries for all you gals that have booked with Paradise Catamarans...full refund with no problems) and ended up renting vans to take our guests into town for dinner instead. They were getting a bit stir-crazy with the rain.

BUT, somebody was looking out for us because we went to bed the night before the wedding to pouring rain and woke up to blue skies on wedding day!!!!!! The clouds rolled in around ceremony time but the first drop didn't fall until the final blessing. Perfect timing if you're going to have rain on your wedding day!

I'll write a full review later with all the details but I just wanted to pop in and say that the whole experience at AB could not have been any better. Superb everything: food, staff, beaches, onsite team. Absolutely perfect!

Now I've got a lot of catching up to do!!!
Welcome back!!! Can't wait to hear about all the details!! SOOOO glad the rain stopped before your wedding day!!! Congrats again!thewave.gif

I just booked here for February 22, 2011!!! If you have any suggestions, helpful hints that would be great. I am wondering where to have my reception, dinner and dance there?

Thanks!

welcome.gif and congrats!!

I wish there were an easier way but the MOST helpful is to read through the thread and search for planning and review threads of Azul Sensatori, those proved most helpful to me!

Welcome! Congrats on booking at Azul Sensatori!

Judging by what some of the brides said, I would try to be indoors or at least more protected once the sun goes down as the Riviera Maya is windy and can be chilly in February. Start googling images of the AS and different locations options. And definitley read through and do searches on the AS wedding reviews and pictures. Look over the del Sol photos and Elizabeth Medina and Claudia Rodguiez's websites for AS pix. I also used You Tube. There are TONS of videos on there that will give you a 3 dimensional view of the restaurants, beachs, and plazas.

My biggest suggestion is to book rooms through the hotel itself or get a very knowledgeable TA specializing in groups or DWs. Do not get some local business person you want to help. That does not work and it will cause you headaches massively.

Good luck and read & ask away!

I'll just echo the other girls...I know it's annoying, but the best bet is to read through this thread, as well as the AS ones in the planning thread. google it and look on you tube. then start asking LOADS of questions on here - we've all done it so don't be shy!!!

congrats on booking your wedding too - that's one of the hardest parts!

    • Congratulations and Welcome to the BDW forum!!  I have toured Sensatori Azul Beach Riviera Maya and it is a really nice resort. We had a group booked there a few years ago and they all had an awesome time.  I am one of the DR specialists and have stayed a few times at Now Onyx in Punta Cana.  I love, love, love the resort!!   There is an awesome adults only area & pool within the resort and they're in the process of adding a new family section with a new pool area. This is scheduled to be complated later this year.  The added bonus of adults being able to access Breathless Punta Cana is awesome, you get two resorts for the price of one! Another great family friendly resort in Punta Cana is Royalton Bavaro. They have a great lazy river with a swim up "grotto" bar, flow rider, tot water play area, mini golf, and Casino and sports bar/disco. There really is something for everyone. Now Onyx and Royalton Bavaro are both new resorts that just opened in the past few years. Rooms are modern&contemporary, food is great at both!  Please contact us at info@wrighttravelagency.com if we can answer any questions for you, send resort info, and check group rates for you.  We do not charge any service fees for our services and we're here to make the planning process as stress free as possible for you!! Thank you! TA Patty
    • Hi there!! Congrats on your engagement. You have definitely come to the right place to plan your destination wedding -- this site is a gold mine for ideas and tips for destination couples. I was a destination bride myself 10 years ago and lived on this site obsessively for 2 years For the Dominican Republic, I think a great resort that fits what you're looking for is Now Onyx! They have amazing swimup suites, they are an oceanfront resort and best of all, they have both an incredible adults only section with the best pool area and a family friendly areas as well. The adults in your group will also have access to Breathless Punta Cana, which is next door where they have a great nightclub and casino but they can also use all the amenities there as well (as long as the property has not been bought out for your travel dates).  I along with a few agents of Wright Travel Agency, which is the official agency of this forum, stayed there for 4 days this past January and I was thoroughly impressed with the accommodations, amenities, food and excellent service. Also, they have an amazing wedding team there that does everything to please couples and give them the wedding of their dreams! If you want information about this resort and pricing, I suggest you contact Wright Travel Agency and one of their Dominican Republic specialist will get back to you! Wright Travel also has exclusive promos and discounts to many resorts -- including this one. There is a great promo called the Bride and Groom Fly Free credit, which can save you up to $1,000!!! You can contact them here www.wrighttravelagency.com or email directly at info@wrighttravelagency.com  Hope that helps and again, congrats!!! ❤️
    • I recommend reading this article
    • I'm looking to see if anyone has had a wedding at Dreams Riviera Cancun or any other resorts in Cancun with around 60 guests and could let me know how much they paid TOTAL for the ceremony, cocktail, and dinner reception. This includes flowers, decor, makeup hair, DJ, and all misc.  Thank you!
    • Hello Everyone, I am new here, I heard about this site from a friend of mine that had a destination wedding back in 2012 which was beautiful.  I am leaning towards the DR if I find a place that has all that I am looking for if not Mexico is another great option. Thinking of May 2020 if that is enough time to plan this! I like modern looks, all inclusive for sure.  I definitely want the beach very very close to the pools and rooms, a swim up bar is a must.  I really like the idea of the swim ups in the rooms if possible.  I am going to have friends that bring their kids so it can't be adult only.  I do want to get married on the beach which seems like most of the all inclusive resorts offer. My friend got married at the SENSATORI AZUL BEACH RESORT RIVIERA MAYA and it had all I would want in a resort if anyone has stayed there and has any advice. Thanks for all the help ahead of time.   M&B
