Recommended Posts

Hi Ladies - So sorry I have been away for quite some time. Finally caught up with the posts I have missed. Congratulations to the new brides who have recently joined!! You are going to find this forum to be a life saver through your planning process and try to enjoy it! I joined some time last year and now my big date is 67 days away!

Nicci - Congrats to your upcoming date!! Can't wait to hear all about it! I will be cheering you from NY. :)

As for your FI's aunt, I agree w/Murmel, this is a surprise..so act surprise!!! But of course try to in some way show your appreciation by writing a thank you card as suggest by Murmel or maybe briefly mentioning in speech? anyway...hopefully you are not stressing over it too much!!!

I just found out today that my fiance's aunt is coming to the wedding on our actual wedding day. That's great and all, but she wanted to keep it a secret from us so we don't have an OOT bag for her! I leave on the 10th so there's no way I can whip one up for her in time. I feel really bad because I want her to have one. She's the kind of person who will be pissed if she's left out.  And now we have to order 2 extra chairs at the wedding and bows etc. because we weren't planning on her and her boyfriend coming.

The only reason I know about it now is because sunwing cancelled her original flight. We are having so many issues with Sunwing.

Just wanted to share the personlized flip flops that have arrived. Each guest will have a pair in their OOT bag. And I did ask each guest for their size. A bit of a pain but so worth it! Not exactly the color I wanted but I can't complain since my cousin had these made in China and I did not have to pay anything. Starting to gather the stuff I want to put in each OOT bag...can't believe i am 66 days way. Where did the time go?!?!

Those flip flops are adorable! Love them!!

Is anyone else traveling with a baby or am i the only one? I have a ton of questions about baby food etc. but the person I emailed at AS didn't give me straight answers.

I have an AHR when I get back and my future MIL has decided to invite more people. So now we are 2 tabkes short, have to go out and find 2 more centerpieces, won't have enough favors, etc... Its going to be hard to enjoy our wedding and vacation with all this added stress.

Hi  jamilaimani !!

Welcome to the forum! I went to the "dress rehearsal" weekend before we decided on the AS! We checked out Dreams as well. For us, we picked the AS because the staff there treated us like royalty! They were so accomodating, and we felt this resort had everything for everyone. As beautiful as Dreams was, I felt it was way more crowded than the other resorts we toured. The wedding coordinator on site who helped us was nice, but we didn't feel any special vibe from her, she took us on a quick walk through and we couldn't see any rooms b/c they were are full capacity. So at the end we decided on AS. I'm sure either choice you make will be perfect for your big day! Can't wait to hear about your trip once you return! THe rehearsal itself is very nice, they give you a presentation with all the details you need to book your wedding. There are also make-up & hair trials, and tastings that go on throughout the day! You'll have everything you need there to help make the right decision =)

I am new to this site. I have been reading reviews for the past month and finally joined.  I have narrowed down the location to our wedding to Azul Sensatori and Dreams Riviera. We are going there next month for the "rehearsal weekend" Going to check out both locations and make a decision.  If there is any questions anyone has or thngs you want me to take pics of let me know. I will be happy to come back with a full a detailed report.  Is there anyone else going nect month? We are looking at a 2013 labor day weekend wedding. This site has been very helpful and I have gotten great ideas.  I am so excited!!!!!!!

We are actually having a secret wedding in Vegas NYE.  I have been reading all the requirements for a legal wedding in Mexico and decided i didnt want to go thru all of that. We also didnt want the ceremony to be in Spanish even with the translator. This works out for us anyway bc i can use the Vegas wedding dress for my TTD!

Hi Nicci,

You're leaving SO soon, congrats and best wishes to you as you venture off to Mexico! Since this was so last minute, although the gesture of "surprising you" was sweet, it's also a headache! Your aunt should have been considerate & told you as soon as she knew she'd be going, so it left you time to plan accordingly. I guess many guests don't know what has to be done before you depart! But, what's done is done, she has to understand this is all mere days before you leave, and can't do much to change what is already planned & packed. I think the other bride's advice was great, about the thank you cards! You can also perhaps pick something up just to bring to her upon her arrival, so she does not feel "left out".

Have an amazing trip, and wishing you all the best on your upcoming big day!!!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
