Erika,

Your pictures were beautiful. They did some really cool things with lighting. You guys looked like you had a great time! Where did you have your reception at?

Thanks for sharing!

Thanks for sharing your pics Erica.

That dress looked amazing on you!

Did they have entertainment at all at the resort? If so what kind did they have and was it nightly?

Hey girls!

First to answer a few recent questions. Yes, there is entertainment nightly. It's spotty in terms of quality, but it only lasts an hour or so and some is really good, some is not so good.

Dress code: Le Chique is pants for men. All of the other places are pretty casual during the day, but no wet bathing suits. Men need to wear shirts. We never had any problems.

ALSO, I've finally done my planning thread. My review should be done soon too!

Do you mind if I ask which photo package you went with?
Thanks,

xxx
We went with the 5 hr. package from Claudia off of the Lomas website. I originally was going through Claudia, but at the last minute we had to go through the resort, because they were going to charge us the extra $500 even though they are approved for the resort. I would almost do a longer package though.

I absolutley love your earrings! If you don't mind sharing, where did you find those? I am looking for that style.

Congratulations!!
Thanks! I looked everywhere for earrings!! I found these on Evesaddiction.com they had some great options, I wanted something vintage looking without spending a ton of money and gladly they weren't airlooms because they were stolen after our wedding at the Resort sad.gif

I was there when they were doing construction on all the outdoor areas, so our reception was moved to Zocolo terrace.

We never really went to the nightly entertainment, so I'm not quite sure. But I believe they had something at the Garden Terrace. And they usually had entertainment in the Mojito lounge.

How many people sit at each table during the reception? I was told 8, but by looking at some of the pictures of receptions it looks like 5. Does anyone know?

KittenHeart - we have requested Friday 7th May to get married - still waiting for confirmation. We didnt think you could get married at the weekend but obviously you can!

We'll have to compare notes as we'll all be there at the same time! What date are you getting to the hotel?

amy - thanks for yours too...I didn't realise Azul Beach was a seperate place!

Just rushing to get into bed but will try to reply more tomorrow.

Katie. xx

Oh wow Katie, how fun! I was hoping I'd get to meet a BDW bride there while I was there! I am arriving there Tuesday, May 4th and leaving Tuesday, May 11th

We are doing the Sky Deck ceremony and Zocolo reception :)

I would love to exchange timing advice with you, I'm kinda lost at the moment as to what to do!

glad I'm not the only one!!

we're there for 2 weeks from 2 - 16 and hopefully getting married on the 7th! because we're flying in from England (UK) we are making this our honeymoon as well - this is not such a cheap option as we first thought!!

aww we wanted to Sky deck ceremony but as we booked through Thomson (our TA) we couldn't as they don't offer it. we're going to have to see if when I get my wedding coordinator, if they'll let us add it on. we haven't got where the reception will be yet either - guessing that also comes when we get our W.C.

what are your plans so farhuh.gif? everyone seems like pros on here! have you got your own photographer or the one with the hotel package??

Katie.

I know right?! As this adds up I'm like wait... I thought this was supposed to be the inexpensive route! LOL, I just keep telling myself, relax it's a vacation too :)

You should ask Grace (who is my WC too with Karisma) to see if they can book the sky deck for you. My TA just requested it be done and Fabio let him know it was booked.

Ok this is what I've got so far, which doesn't feel like enough:

Secured wedding date
Secured ceremony spot
Signed a contract and blocked rooms at the resort
Created my wedding website with all the info and RSVP location
Designed, crafted and put together my STD boarding passes and sent them all out
Booked my photographer who will do my engagement shoot next month and fly down to shoot my wedding day. He is traveling for free, staying for 3 days and shooting my wedding so he will technically be a guest. wink.gif
Wedding bands purchased
Wedding party selected and accepted
Chosen a friend to MC the event
Picked our first dance song (I think) and started downloading songs for wedding dancing since we're using my iPod
Next we're designing two different postcards with RSVP by dates for those unresponded and for those who have RSVP'd that they will attend will get a postcard nudging them to book early for good pricing.

I'm not getting ready to try on wedding dresses and discover my flower choice for my bouqet and start my DIY project for invitations etc.

=)

    • Sorry you had to deal with this I hoped it worked out. It seems to be every few months a new store will be in the  'if' stage and to the 'when' stage.  Big businesses like this don't notify the employees or customers before they close down...that would cause even more losses.  One day there are signs on the door and the business is done.  And lots of people (employees and customers...not to mention the creditors that they owe millions to) get screwed immediately with little help to be found anywhere.  Look at alfred angelo, although they had less retail stores than David's Bridal, they may have had more sales than them as a company.  They were the largest manufacturer of dresses and were carried by thousands of independent stores across the world (not just the 60+ branded stores they had).  If you google search Davids Bridal going bankrupt, they are listed on all the sites that post retail stores on life support.  They have more debt than they will be able to service in 2019 and the only question right now is if they'll make it that far.  Once the debt comes due, it's almost a 100% certainty that the company will be done.  But it's also more probable than not that the bankruptcy will happen much sooner than that.  The argument about them getting a new line or how big they are isn't a good argument if you look at the history of how these normally happen.  Alfred Angelo had a brand new line of dresses that never even hit the stores but were made overseas already...those all made their first appearances at the liquidation auctions.  I'm not trying to scare anyone here, but just trying to make sure that people understand that when a company gets to this point, it's definitely a roll of the dice if you are ordering something that you can't take home today.  How much of a risk?  That's hard to say, but I am extremely confident that the pain felt when alfred angelo closed 61 stores will be even greater when Davids Bridal closes 300+ stores…and when there are other great discount dress stores out there like Bridepower or Vows Bridal Outlet on the East Coast or Brilliant Bridal in the West (and plenty of others as well), I don’t think I would personally recommend any of my friends to take that risk!  But that’s just me:)
    • Hello all!! I'm planning to get married next week. I'm working in an MNC and I'm gonna marry my colleague who is in my company. It's been ten months since we have started our relationship. He used to support in all my difficulties and used to help me in my work. Always he used to tell me about my smile. He says that I have a very good smile and he loves it. Recently I lost my front tooth after an accident and it resulted in a bad look for me. He told me that I lost my beautiful smile. I was totally disappointed and thought of finding a solution. I heard about dental dentures and took an appointment at a clinic in Scarborough. Will dentures affect my speech? What was your experience of getting dentures?
    • Go for the third one. It is gorgeous and you will look stunning in that. I'm sure you will be noticed by other people. Go for it.
    • I would suggest the long one. You will look stunning in that. It is simple and elegant.
    • Both the gown are awesome and I'm sure you will look gorgeous in both. But I would suggest the first one. Go for it and Congratulations for your marriage.
