Stag & Doe

Recommended Posts

Not sure where to post this and if it needs to be moved that's fine

We are in the midst of planning a stag & doe for September. Because we have a small wedding party and there is no one coming to our wedding in Jamaica we are attempting to go with a Caribbean theme.

Does anyone have any ideas on a Caribbean Themed party? I am looking for another game and how to decorate/dress.

We currently have a few games set up:

Video Game Challenge - Projected on Screen - Wii

Toonie Toss

Pie in the face (yikes)

Hockey Net Station

Tons of prizes and Karaoke.

Any suggestions?!?!?!

Are you doing a 50/50? They're usually a hit at the ones I go to. Especially when it's an arm length of tickets for a price. We always have fun trying to figure out who has the longest arms so we can get the most tickets, etc! LOL

That's a good one..we will be doing that as well as 2 Mystery Prizes..one good one bad lol

We have Karaoke insurance - meaning - when you walk in the door if you DON'T want to sing you pay..if you want to sing you don't pay.

There is also Fish Insurance on prizes. I need another game of some sort.

Still looking for themed decos etc.

Check out party packagers for your decorations, you should have one near you, they will have exactly what you are looking for.

As for games, give me some time with this. I had a list on my old computer from buck and does we have done in the past, so I will look for it for you and get back to you.

Make sure you have jello shooters, sell them for $1 people always buy tons of those, you can't have too many. Get tropical flavours like pinapple and mango and stuff, that way it will go with your theme.

There is that game where you tape a deck of cards on a bristol board face down and ask people to write their names on the card and whoever finds the Jack of Spades wins half the money. I think its usually $2 a card, people will play for a toonie and then its free money, you just pay for the deck of cards and the bristol board. Keep it at the door or where people are buying drink tickets, because then they already have their money out and will just do it.

Also, have a big jug with a narrow top, put a shot glass inside and leave it at the bar. people drop in a loonie and if it lands in the shot glass they get a free shot, if not, then they get nothing. That one usually brings in lots of money as well.

There is also the game where you put a bottle (a Mickey) of liquor on the floor and tape a line a few feet away, and people do a loonie toss or slide towards the bottle and it goes for a while and the person who gets their loonie the closest wins the bottle. You can leave that one going for a while because people keep trying to get it closer to the bottle all night.

Did you say you have any poker tables? Because that is huge right now. Make people pay a fee to play, say $10 and then give them some chips and the winner takes home half of the table's pot. Like if 5 people play the winner gets $25 and so do you. Its not a lot of money but people love poker, so they will play just to play and win.

If I think of anything else I will let you know. These were just off the top of my head. lol

Thanks Julie for the tips! We are also doing the Mickey/Toonie toss.

The poker table sounds like a great idea! My brother has an eight seater table..I'll have to talk to him!

Jenny ~ A stag & doe is a pre wedding party. Some view it as a way to get some extra cash before the wedding.

I'm mainly doing it because we are having a DW and we will not be having a reception upon our return.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
