Seriously?? My European counterparts get 1 to 3 years maternity leave and 3 months vacation. I swear we don't get anything done in August because everyone on the other side of the pond is on vacation. Most of those folks are on the mainland of Europe (and the 3 year maternity leaves are only in Germany), so maybe it's different in the UK. And this is a huge corporation...17,000 employees, so I think that helps. But I swear I thought our UK folks were covered under law for sick pay! That sucks! Most people get sick within a 5 year timespan! What do you do if that happens? Sheesh! That's nuts!

Lucy! Let us know how everything turns out!! hug2.gif

Seriously lmao the law is changing but now you get 6 weeks pay at 90% for maternity leave then its £117 for the next 26 weeks, you can then take another 26 weeks with no pay but its a maximum of 12 months. They are changing it to 9 months at £117 per week. Sick pay it depends company to company but the government give you £27 a day after the first 3 days - i think its about that anyway but those first 3 days nothing lol so if you are off you take it without pay or hols! I had a migraine went in at 11 they made me take a half day hol!! So i said fine I want the extra 1 1.2 hours back and now work my contracted hourse - screw the extra hours for no pay and working dinner times lol

I get about 28 days hols a year but have to keep 3 for xmas when the office is shut!! but I negotiated them, ie either you give me them or i won't come lol

EU is different tho they get proper benefits we get shite all because we haven't adopted all their policies lolpokestick.gif

Our vacation pay and sick pay are all rolled up in one. We also have to use those hours for holiday's off since we are open 365 days a year. I earn about 32 days a year. It goes quick when you want to take holidays off plus a normal vacation. Plus we have to use those hours for FMLA purposes as well.

I get 2 vaca days a month, and can carry up to 24 at a time. I also get 1 sick day each month and can carry up to 90 of them. Sadly, I only have like 10 sick days... Plus we get off or leave early for practically every holiday. Yay for me, for my job, for once!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
