As far as not signing it with your new name I just got my license last week and I was told that I have to sign it with my new name or I will have problems with the SS office. But that's here in NY. If Rachel signed her old name and didn't have a problem then maybe it won't be a problem.

Why don't you call the SS office in your county and ask your questions. They will give you the best idea as to what you need to change your name and make your marriage valid.
Thanks for the info. Although I never plan on using it. lol.

OK now I have a question ( from reading all of this information)

Im getting married in vegas-I now its easy to get the license there-but whenw e sign it, I sign the new name??

Question 2-I never legally changed my name after my divorce-LONG STORY ( house still in both our names, etc...) so do I sign my new married name and just change it with SS/dmv/etc when I am back in NY?

Hope Im not stealing your thread :)

NY DMV doesn't accept foreign marriage certs so I had to wait to accumulate other documents in my new name (ss card, credit card, my social work license) as proof of name change. But it wasn't as horrible as i thought it would be.

Oh and in mexico before you get married they ask you how you want to divy up belongings and money in case of divorce. I believe that other "pre nup" document you were referring to is that document.

Karen, would you be willing to help me through this process if I provide you with my email? I live in NY and Im having an awful time!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
