Happy New Year to all

My FI and I leave in 3 weeks - I truly cannot believe that it is here already

I agree love the pics and the beach does not look so bad - that is the only down side BUT my FI, guests and I are going to make use of the other Palace resorts.

Best of Luck
Laura

It is great because of its size.... you can find some real intimate and quiet areas, as opposed to smaller resorts. Since it is not on the main hotel strip It does'nt usually cater to the spring break crowd either, which was a plus for us. They offer a ton of amenities. You can stay on-site for a week, never leave the resort and you still wouldn't have done everything they offer there! The rooms are beautiful- lcds, and double jacuzzis, awesome showers, service is amazing-everyone is so nice and very willing to help, The palace passport will also save you a lot in terms of excursions/golf etc. The new golf/spa side is lovely for some quite time. Nobody is ever by the pool on that side, and the Italian restaurant on that side is wonderful! Last time I visited, the Grand side was being built- so no info on that just yet! But if anyone has info on it I would love it! It looked nice when they were building it- Is the lobby finished for that side?

We are booked for the MP Grand Side and we hope that we get it. It is the newer quiter side - the perfect place for our guests.

Keeping my fingers crossed.

The Grand looks so awesome! On trip advisor there are lots of great pics and some nice reviews about the restaurants as well. My TA just got back (in October) from a tour and said that it is a beautiful, intimate, secluded side of the resort. The rooms are also said to be larger and bit more expensive, but overall it's a more chic area. Should be fantastic!

Question about the Palace Passport...

Is it automatically included as part of the room prices? I got the impression that you have to add it. I saw something from my TA about a silver passport promotion, but are there other levels (e.g., gold, platinum) that provide more? This one I'm really ignorant about and can't seem to find any info on the general websites.

i was under the impression there was only one palace passport - but there is a minimum stay...not sure what it is, haven't had to look into this as we will be staying 2 weeks so defo will be entitled to it!

will be interesting to know if there are different levels on it though!

Our TA priced out a 4-night package and at least with that number of nights, the silver passport is included. The minimum stay requirement is a good question though, because I want our guests to get it as well.

Do you know if any of the sunset/evening cruises are included on the passport? Or are those always additional?

I second that on the passport. As far as I'm aware there is only one and you qualify for it if you stay three nights or longer. The resort has additional promotions depending on when you book. We booked our stay directly through the resort and got an early booking bonus of $15 off per person per day and two free dolphin experiences in addition to the passport.

Plus we're staying on the grand side. When we booked, we were told that there was no price difference between the sunrise, grand, or nizuc sides. My family (who will be our only guests) really liked the sunrise side and have requested to stay there. It will allow us to still maintain the fact that it will be our honeymoon.

CantWait! - going by what is listed on the website there is no sunset/sunrise cruises included - however there are many companies that do it for a price...personally, i'm going for it! it works out about $52 pp for the sunset cruise, but that includes booze and food....not bad me thinks

Mrs. D To Be --

$52 pp??!! That's really great!

I searched around on the Elite Tours site...which is supposedly the company that MP uses. I didn't see anything that cheap. What company are you using?

Although we have never been to the MP, my eldest sister was supposed to be married there in 2006. They called off the wedding three weeks before and, since my family (less me) had already booked the trip, they still went as if it were a family vaca. They loved it so much and rant and rave about it til
this day. They look at us having our big day there as an excuse to go back and at least no gripes about the expense from my side.

That being said, the MP allows us to have a beautiful wedding (with a built in coordinator) for a fraction of the expense if we were doing the wedding at home and then flying away for our honeymoon. I wanted a fancier wedding ceremony, but with that comes the expense of just as fancy of a reception. (we're having a relatively informal AHR when we return.)
The resort is expansive enough that we don't have to worry about constantly running into guests and can enjoy our time there as our honeymoon. The included excursions are just frosting on the cake.
